I figure at some point crypto will have deep and long recession like it did from 15-16, which will give us a much needed accumulation period at discount prices so the next time around the misc will have more than one crypto multimillionaire.

I guess we need to differentiate between investor and adopter. We're "early" adopters, because nothing has really materialized. But BTC is mainstream now, so we are no longer early investors, of BTC anyway. In terms of overall cryptomarket, I think we are early investors.

Well, when you look at the total money in crypto it's still an infant compared to other main forms of investment. btc is definitely in the process of smashing into the mainstream but the mainstream money levels haven't shown yet.

That accumulation period will be boring as hell, but oh lawdy if it takes off again and you have the hot coin.

I agree with you.

Also, the way I see it: None of this is about bitcoin. Bitcoin is the door. What is bitcoin good for? Storage of value, but what value? Do we need it as storage of value? I see it as only means to acquire alts, alts that promise infinite possibilities AND quick profits thanks to media exposure. Its just a catalyst and a good one because as someone who missed being an investor but an early adopter, it generates endless opportunities for us.

A lot of people aren't in it for the money. Bitcoin is also fueled by an ideology, that one unknown guy (Satoshi) changed the way we have looked at currency since the dawn of man. You now really own your money and you are free to spend it as you please. Nobody can take it away from you (unless they acquire your private key). I've always been drawn to that aspect of it. That's why when Bitcoin hits 19.5K etc., it's a mixture of emotions for me including disappointment at what Bitcoin has now become (a figure of wealth and excess, essentially, a bank).

It's inevitable as crypto becomes mainstream. Time to get in was a year ago at the very least. Definitely dont quit your day job for this because it won't last.

Not to discourage you, but the only reason you/a lot of people are probably making money right now is because (a) it's a bull market (b) the market is inundated by mom and pop type individuals who don't have a clue (c) BTC/Alts are speculatively rising at an alarming rate

Once any of these conditions falls, it will be a lot harder to make any money unless you actually learn and develop the fundamentals of trading. If you don't believe me, try trading on the FOREX market for a few days.

all the old time traders ive heard say all they did was buy up the unloved assets and just wait until they were loved again and then boom, profit. its why I dabble i the precious metals markets while all of this is going on, because no one wants gold right now, they all want cryptos, and the herd is always wrong. you know the misc used to have a pm thread that was very active when silver was in the 30-40 range but it died off as the price went lower. this bull market does feel a bit long in the tooth, but irrational exuberance tends to go on for longer than we think it will before it goes pop.

wouldn't btc stabilizing be a good thing for alts?

Don't worry man, one thing that's essential (and very difficult to do due to the nature of our brains) is to look at your decisions repeated over infinity. Would it still be profitable?

In all likelihood, going into LTC at 132 over infinity is likely to be a bad choice, as a surge was unlikely (unless you had a tip or knowledge of something that would cause it).

That's one life lesson playing poker has taught me that I'll never forget. Your brain wants to believe that if something happens, it will happen again - because in real life, it can protect you from dangerous situations by pattern recognition.

You're smart to go in, you're skilled to stay in. It's just don't expect this to be a cash cow for life, because it probably won't be this easy without having good trading fundamentals.

ltc is high right now because btc and eth are clogged. I wouldn't go too crazy on ltc cause it will go down if eth fixes it's network congestion.
