Ackman being out is not necessarily the worst thing. Couple of points:

1. Many people/short sellers targeted Valeant purely because they didnt like Ackman. So they'll cover now, move on to CMG or whatever.
2. He didn't sell the shares to the open market. It was a private sale, transacted by Jefferies. Some other activist bought them
3. Like he said, the stock can double and triple from here. He needed the stock to go back to 120+ to recoup his losses, so he sold.
4. Paulson was and still is the biggest holder here, along with ValueAct.

Yes, as a whole Valeant bought alot of ****ty assets. I can admit that, but the media destroyed this company, which is something that cannot be ignored. Without the constant negative headlines, this is at 20-30.

Find it hard to believe he would finally sell at the absolute lows if he actually believed this. Almost has to be something horrible about to come to light.

Agree 100% ... NOBODY sells a complete position if they think it has near term 2X or 3X potential. He can likely deal with investor pressure so that's a lame excuse if it were one.

I wonder if he had some puts on this or sold some calls? Maybe he made a backdoor deal with a company for an options trade?

After the VRX earnings beat, on the top and bottom line, and the stock still got hammered. Along with his inability to convince the board to take more drastic asset sales. I think he literally just gave up on it. I mean the position was 2% of his portfolio at this point, and if the stock tripled from here the position would only be around 800-900mm.

Again, I'll say the media had a big role in this, he probably just couldn't handle the constant bashing it got.

the new CEO is sketchy as fukk though. Ran up Perrigo *because every bio company was running up* then time came to close it out....and completely turned that company into shambles.

Can anyone tell me if using acorn to save up around 10k is a bad idea? It's easy to invest and put money in with, the fee is 1$ a month, I can get "some" stock experience, and I can save up a decent size to actually invest myself down the road. Thoughts?

I'm optimistic about where the company will be in two years and a 4% dividend.

The problem analysts saw with DSW's figures were the same store sales decline. This is typically the result of stingier sales and promotions. Analysts typically want to see store expansion and an increase in same store sales.

i was hoping to get out with a little profit and then play both sides. oh well...at this point i may just keep averaging down. if it opens with a dip i may try to average down to ~$6.

Final warning on JNUG. All ETFs that are x3 eventually go to 0. Food for thought especially as they have reverse split a couple times already. Imagine if you were blindly buying call options no matter what every fuking day for gold and selling every day or 2. Not a great way comparison, but close because just like anything else there will be bear/bull periods and these things aren't made to weather the storm.

@ifitness - plenty of people warned you about VRX. Learning curve, time to shake it off and move on.

Re: Ackman selling, he booked a large profit Canadian Pacific, chances are he is looking to offset losses against gain at some point in the future? Chances are though if he really believed in VRX he wouldn't be exiting he position though.

Watch VRX. Strong rallies month after month would signal it can set up for a bull run and perhaps a run to the $80s. Otherwise forget about it.

I know its so tempting! Anyone else have any input?

Watching it drop all the way down to $10 a share makes me feel like I need to jump on it ASAP

Oil looking pretty juicy right now too, might be a good time to pick up some more CVX or something similar

Edit- DRYS is just too tempting with that 4.44% dividend but what are your guys opinions on it?

I can say that the sentiment on VRX is about as bad as its ever been right now.

Maybe due for a bounce soon on short squeeze. Wonder what %short float is

As a trade...maybe but what would cause them to cover. That debt load is insane and while its not coming due immediately rate hikes will only cause sentiment to sour even more.
