Food tips-

Hi everyone.

So I eat a pretty healthy diet. I am mindful of my sodium intake and try not to eat too much sugary items which means eating pretty much sucks.

This thread is to share some ways to eat this way that are sustainable.

I use a lot of spices- always garlic, oregano, sometimes things like curry and/or Cajun.

Some things that do a pretty good job of covering up not having salt are lemon and cilantro. Cilantro doesn’t work well with everything but amazingly lemon works with a lot.

I would heavily recommend MRS DASH lemon pepper seasoning/ normally Mrs dash seasonings are underwhelming but the lemon pepper is fantastic.

I use MSG- a pinch is actually really helpful with foods like meat and what not.

Plain yogurt works really well as a flavor enhancer to foods- I’ll sometimes add it on meat, pasta with sauce, potatoes.

I make tacos quite a bit- I make my own seasoning - with cumin, garlic, onion powder, and sometimes a pinch of MSG but anyone can flavor it how they want.

I have foods that I can add to anything at any time like mix ins so mushrooms, kale, cucumbers.. things like that

That’s all I can think of right now but feel free to add things. I’m always looking for ways to not hate my diet.

Ground beef bowls are pretty decent too.
Ground beef, spices, chopped peppers, guac, rice

Low sodium is only needed if you dont sweat. Get out there and do some sweating FFS and add some salt to you food, life is for living not suffering.

Sugar is kinda indefensible, but it does taste hella good on lots of cooked things like meat for example. A little bit of it goes a long way as far as flavouring goes and it adds fuck all calories to your day like that. Eating sugary dense foods is where it's an issue imo.

Also, eat what you want more or less just eat less of it, once you hit your proton goals you just need to stay within calories.

If you are sweating a lot of just losing water, having some sodium in the diet is recommended.

I add more pink himalayan or celtic salt on foods over the regular stuff.

Since I have a sweet tooth, I tend to opt for a lot of peanut butter, honey and some bananas.

But hard to resist some fig newtons.

you should salt to taste, your body knows

salt is anti-cortisol/adrenaline.

I started paying attention to sodium like 6 months ago. It is literally my favorite food group- if I ate what I wanted of it i would probably eat like 6-10k grams a day. I feel like being careful about what I put in my body is where I am at these days. Kidneys still need to work to remove all the sodium and sadly I don’t really sweat that much. I did lower the sodium because my blood pressure was high at the dentist. I had it checked at the doctor and it was 102/67 so it’s possible I don’t need to be like hardcore removing it but it helps with not snacking as much too.

I’m going to change the low sodium in my OP because I think that was relative. I am mindful of my salt intake because if I wasn’t I would eat way more than what is healthy. It is low compared to what I think most people eat in a day. I am a salt fiend. Also some people need low sodium diets.

Looks good but i like to add chopped hard boiled eggs to mine and mix it together. also i rarely ever use actual ground beef. i buy chuck or round and cut it into large peices and boil with with white and green onions. once cooked i throw it in the food processor and than i make the sauce for it and mix it all together along with eggs(depends on how much i made)
