Would you microchip your pet?
Microchipping your pet seemed like the hot thing to do 20 years ago now but was wondering if it ended up being a good idea overall. It seems like if its a desirable dog people aren't going to want to return it, not sure anyone even knows where to take a stray you find to get them scanned to try to find the owner. The dog I just picked up is pure breed and wasn't going to get her chipped if it was a bad idea. Whats the bro science say on this?

I never did with any of my dogs. With social media today, animal control and local police, it's pretty easy to get the word out if your pet happens to go missing.

Balding is death. If you have no hair, you have no life.

I got my buddy's dog chipped when he was out of town, and we are no longer friends because of it. When I was 23, I had 2 roommates that wanted to go to Jamaca, one of them had a dog. I told him dude, don't leave your dog with me, I don't know anything about taking care of them. He said put water in the bowl, food in the bowl and take him out to take a shit. I said don't leave your dog with me, I don't know how to take care of it. He said don't worry about it, it's easy. I said don't leave your dog with me. He left his dog with me. I came home from the bars, opened the door, and the dog sprinted out as soon as the door opened. I called him, I chased him, but he was gone. Fucking running down Michigan Avenue and just disappeared. I wandered around for a while, but how the fuck to you find a dog in the middle of Chicago? The next morning there was a note on my door that a dog was on the sidewalk in front of my place, if it was mine, go to the humane society. So I went, and picked up the dog. They told me they could painlessly put a chip in his neck so that if he did that again they would know who the owner was, I said sounds like a good idea. My buddy came back and I told him what happened and that he shouldn't have left his dog with me, but I got him back and put a chip in him so he wouldn't get lost again. Dude lost his shit, threatened to sue me for "having an unauthorized medical procedure done on his dog". I told him to fuck off and find a new roommate, and I got a studio in Lincoln Park. Never talked to him again.
