The socioeconomic trend of FOMO and luxury cars needs to be studied

Any of you looking to buy a luxury car soon? Just a decade ago, majority of ppl's top priority goals was the buy some type of car. Now you barely hear about it.

Crazy how cars were one of the biggest status symbol tokens the past 2 decades and now nobody gives a fook what u drive.

Yeah because people nowadays are more broke and cars are more expensive than ever. Having a luxury car is now a pipe dream for most people, thats why "luxury" wearables are booming in sales, Chanel, gucci etc those brands are selling more than ever mostly to broke people with debt.

For an avg person owning a Mercedes is out of the picture even with debt so they choose to "flex" with gucci handbags and hoodies or the newest iphone instead. They will still get into toxic debt to flex tho.

I don’t think it’s very old. It seems the average person around here keeps a car for like 5-6 years tops before trading in and buying a new one. I probably drive the oldest car at my office srs. One of the lowest level too, people living check to check are buying 50k cars

that's insane.

many people think those years are actually nicer than new cars because its before all these new EPA and safety regs came into place harming vehicle reliability. your 17 will save you tens of thousands and outlaster their new cars

Luxury cars still exist, they just have a bed and run on diesel. Tons of people driving $60,000+ clean pickup trucks that have never left the pavement. That's what's replacing all the luxury sedans from the 90s (and luxury SUVs from the 2002-2009 era)

I want a C7 Corvette grandsport, but I can't justify it. I'd have like $500 leftover

this. exactly. the "luxury car" is basically any pickup over a base model now. f150 "tremor/raptor", or GMC "Denalis"... these are 80k+ trucks new and they're everywhere

But I thought, other than polish it and take it out on nice days ,get tickets

Its wasted money

So I bought a corolla xse and lightly modded it ,beefed up audio

Done

You're perspective changes as you age ,I'd never have made that decision at 25

Nah, I'm literally the only person on my block who doesn't have a "luxury" car out front. At work everyone except for 3 of us has either a Tesla, or a German luxury car as a daily driver.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Regular cars got nice though. I bought a Mazda sedan in 2021 for $15k and the interior feels more luxury than a Lexus or Acura cab. Almost Audi level. There's no need to buy a luxury car anymore.
