The reason women/society criticizes you if you stay single past 40

They don't like that you're not playing the game the way they want

They don't like that you haven't bent the knee and become a "provider"

That them shaming you, even subtly, about still being single didn't work

That you stayed smuggishly defiant

Because those same people couldn't care less if you played their game and then end up like the 50% who get divorced

Those people will be nowhere to be found when you're now struggling to pay alimony to some ex after you were court-ordered to also give her your home

So she could shack up with some other dude and spend some of that alimony you send her way every month on him

Feels smug mane to have never played the game

It's the same reason DNA test of children aren't mandatory. It's estimated that up to 30% of men are raising children that are not biologically their own. If DNA test became mandatory, more men would leave their wife and single moms would spike drastically. And who will have to foot the bill for these single moms? Society. So men are expected to take the L and remain ignorant. Even if a man finds out later that a child is not his own, he is still legally bound to pay child support.
