Things that don't matter anymore (or matter a lot less) as you get older
1. Chasing after success and wealth
As long as you got your essentials covered and enough saved so you don't have to worry about where your next meal is coming from, paying your rent/mortgage, etc then everything else is just extra and doesn't add much more value to your overall happiness
2. Friendship
After about your early or mid 30's it becomes irrelevant
I mean what kind of guy in his 40s and beyond still hangs around with friends?
Seems weird
3. Current events/religion/politics
They all just become background static you tune out
The world is what it is and nothing you'll do will change it in the grand scheme of things
It was how it was before you were here and it will be how it's going to be after you're gone
You're just a temporary visitor here until your time's up

Yeah that's all fairly accurate. I stopped caring about wealth flexing and job title chasing a long time ago, only thing that has mattered to me for years is simply my own personal finances and how well off I am, the thoughts and opinions of others doesn't matter.
Friends quickly stopped having much value or importance to my life as soon as I hit my 30's. 20's was all about partying and going out with buddies, but towards our late 20's everyone was getting settled into their personal and professional lives and it's like we all just stopped hanging out outside of rare occasions. Now it's like most friends are just some people I will send a Happy Thanksgiving or Merry Christmas to and catch up with once in a blue moon.
I stopped giving a shit entirely about politics after the covid era. It became clear how the news media had become completely corrupt and most daily news was just bullshit I genuinely didn't need to know about that I have zero control over that hardly has any real impact on my personal life. Most news just feels like ragebait by now, and I don't need to be hearing about shit like the weather in some completely different parts of the country.

1. Sex (no homo)
2. Even pretending to care about my job or perform well
3. Peoples opinions
4. Hopes and dreams
5. Waking up in the morning at all
Let’s just be real….

"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

If you have goals then you learn to prioritise them. Sounds obvious but a lot of people will deviate from the path they need to be on to achieve big goals due to people talking shit. For me in the gym for instance it's a case of your opinions and agenda mean nothing to me, my only objective is to hit X performance on lift Y without steroids. You need to that mindset for any kind of challenging goal that's meaningful to you, and where success cannot be given to you by anyone else.

There is a lot of truth to this GMiscer thread, believe it or not. One thing I’ve realized as I’ve gotten older is that today matters, a lot, and that tomorrow is not promised (but very certain for most of us).
