Does lifting/gaining muscle mass make you look older/die faster?

All the studies show that caloric restriction/fasting is the best thing you can do for slowing aging
If you are a twink you need to be all the time eating a lot of calories to GAIN and to KEEP the gains=faster aging=looking old faster=dying faster
what to do .

You need to build a lot of muscle when you're young because then you have a lot more to lose when you start deteriorating with age. Of course, there is a balance. If you are building Andrey Smaev level of muscle then you understand you are cutting your life short. It's a trade off

I couldn't live life eating like an old asian woman, walking around all weak and scrawny, no way to live

I'm not a mass monster either, I think I'll live as long as I'm supposed to fit and strong.

I do not look older because i lift either, if anything I look younger.

not sure what you are talking about, I ate more and was fat before I took up lifting again

I have been hungry my whole life, lifting gives me discipline around my diet

100 years ago life expectancy was 58, so their diet didn't help them

Those stats are misleading because of high infant mortality crashing the average down. It's not like the people making it to adulthood were dropping in their 50s.

Now ,genes plays a part and being dealt the cards in that aspect

Exercise, sure ....but how you treat your body is far more important

What you eat and what you drink and how much

If I had to rank it

Diet

Sleep

Workout

As far as looking old and worn out

Will you die faster on juice ,without a doubt

ok, then lets control for childhood death

In 1925, if you survived childhood, your life expectancy was significantly higher than the average life expectancy at birth, which was roughly 57–59 years for the total U.S. population in the mid-1920s. For those who reached adulthood, they could expect to live roughly another 10 to 20 years beyond that, often reaching their mid-60s or early 70s.

For an individual who has already survived childhood in the U.S. as of 2026, the average life expectancy is likely higher than the birth average of roughly 79–82 years, as it excludes early childhood mortality. Data indicates that once adulthood is reached, life expectancy often increases, frequently exceeding 80+ years depending on gender.

The only guys lifting weights that are aging and dying early are taking roids etc . My only issue is debilitating tendinitis in my arms . Sucks bigly because I’m positive it could have completely avoided had bench pressed with dumbbells instead of a bar .
To make matters worse I benched heavy all the time and used a flat hand suicide grip with the barbell , like doing a push up , which in turn puts excessive tension on the tendons

Gaining muscle and preserving it as best you can as you age is one of the best thing people can do for themselves. If you abuse gear then that will def age you. Wasps list was spot on and I'll add don't do drugs and limit alcohol.

Its a net positive. But once you trying to get big.
Youre gonna have to consume alot of dietary cholesterol. And food in general, unhealthy fats ect.
And as youre just a man, you wont buy some pea protein powder for zero cholesterol.
Or avoid steak, bacon ect foods with high saturated fat.
Those things rack up overtime and its common for lifters to have pretty high LDL.

Some people dont get affected by dietary cholesterol though.
But i do. And the only time my ldl was under 3.0 was when i was on a vegan diet.

you can build muscle in a deficit, but it's way slower. more muscle, especially functional (so not only lifting but being hybrid), preserves the brain from aging, and reduces oxidative stress (aging markers)

Corollary: it's PEDs and stress that make you age faster
You can't fight fate

bUT YOU STILL NEED MORE CALORIES

if i am naturally 5ft8 130lbs eating when i want, i need to eat more calories /force feed to be 160.

ALL THE STUDIES SHOW THAT FASTING /CALORIC RESTRICTION ARE THE BEST FOR LIFESPAN/LONGEVITY.
MEANWHILE there is always surplus

Do you take anything for your tendonitis to make it feel better like creams or meds?
