What happens to guys with no friends or family when they get older?

I mean absolutely zero friends or family

It's one thing to be young and single

But what becomes of guys like that when they get to their 50's and beyond?

You get sick because you subsist on shitty slop take out food, then you get horribly sick as your body ages and you don't feed it what it needs, then you die alone in a shitty rent controlled apartment and because no one gives a fuck about you, you'll probably get discovered after your rent payments finally stop because your account is out of money after the government cuts your welfare payments for failure to check in with them.

All too often, the death of such people only becomes known by the smell of their decaying corpse. Neighbours might report a foul stench coming from an apartment or house, the landlords and/or police will smash in the door only to find some bloated corpse half fused to the sofa fabric as that's where they died.

They will get some cheap state funded funeral, with maybe a priest and one or two administrators who have to be there. Any assets they possessed will get pass to the Crown (or Government in US). Some forms will get filled in, and it will be as if that person had never existed at all.

So yeah, reality is a bitch.
