Some reports say partially due to them holding military drills in the area. I'm sure a lot of merchant ship owners wouldn't want their ships going through there due to higher risks, but they haven't actually tried to shut it down because that would be an act of war on an international scale. So Iran, like Indians, chooses a passive aggressive approach.

US is flying operations over the area too. There will be a lot of flexing and easily something could go hot real quick.

I don't think Iran will really try to close it unless it's the last resort and it's because it's like everything else, Iran claims to have a lot of capabilities that have never been proven or tested. The fact that it's a possibility that they could have this power is a deterrent. But lest say they actually do try to close it, and they get smacked down, they will basically be castrated. They launch one of these missiles against our ships, and we knock it down with no problem, they are going to be rendered powerless.

I think Trump will try to negotiate with them but I think he knows where it will go because what he is demanding as a minimum they won't go for so he's going to say "well we tried". Iran is about to have to prove what it has and they aren't holding the cards.

We won't go to war with Iran. It's a logistical nightmare and an unwinnable war.

Their terrain is way too complicated to do a land invasion, and we'd have to heavily rely on aviation and naval forces. This puts us at a direct disadvantage due to the lack of strategic avenues of attack. The war would cost trillions, wreck the world's economy because of the Strait of Hormuz, which would spike oil prices drastically, which would make transportation and all things more expensive, etc.

In a nutshell, it's all theater. The only way a true war happens, other than small battles with Israel with long-range missile strikes, is if there's a world war that includes Russia and China. (Super Duper Ded fkn Srs)
