I have been asking myself this question and it's a hard look into the mirror glass.

Even after 1 day without it I start feeling pretty powerful compulsions and I just bargain with myself pretending that it's a stupid idea.

You're starting a lot of threads and posting with a lot of familiarity as to how this place works.

Wonder if, when someone makes you red, you'll start crying about high rep bullies?

Yes, where I go hunting is out in the middle of nowhere. I get zero cell service, so I just turn the phone off for the 2-3 days I stay out there. It's unbelievably peaceful and cathartic. And that's how everybody lived until like 13 years ago lol

I imagine there would be a period of adjustment, but I could do it easy.

No but I know for a fact so much in my life would improve. Like so much. I think the root of all my problems is likely my phone activity

I might buy one of these Commodore 64 half-smart phones so I can still check my bank account and text.

It would take an adjustment period but I could do it. I hate mobile versions of websites and I hate phone apps. It's convenient sometimes if you need to look something up while on the go as opposed to driving home to look it up and then having to make an extra trip or wait a bit. But I definitely could go back if needed.

even with a gps. email, phone calls, music. so many things are more accessible with smart phones and it's all in one

they suck because they're too accessible for bad things but they're addicting bc they have good features too

well the point of giving it up is disconnecting from the addiction to all that and just being present/in your thoughts (scary i know). gps unit in the car to get around and a flip phone for talking/emergency (also a radio in the car for music). everything else will wait until later.

people in addiction will often name ways life will suck without their drug. but i'll lose my friends...being social will be harder...i'll be bored...won't have as much fun, etc. phone addiction is kinda the same where people just can't imagine a life without their security blanket.
