Does any tv show or movie even compare to True Detective S1?

Seriously just watched it again for probably the fifth time and it’s still incredible so yall think they were subtly letting us know how the entire world is run?

If you're talking seasons of TV, then it's up there with the top tier for sure.

I'd also add Breaking Bad Season 5, Game of Thrones Season 5, and Prison Break Season 1.

Maybe Breaking Bad or one of the first few seasons of Game of Thrones.

I thought the first handful of True Detective episodes were top tier, but that it declined pretty sharply around the biker gang episode.

The characters were the interesting part of the show. But that’s around when they needed to start actually wrapping up the story and I don’t think they knew how.

Rust going rogue spec ops commando and breaking into mansion and safes and shit was too unbelievable. The house paint clue was painfully contrived because they weren’t getting anywhere. The last episode was like some cheesy slasher film.

I had a lot of what the hell am I even watching moments by the end.
