It's been 20 years since the book "The Game" was published.

Trying to turn nerds into "Pickup Artists" by teaching them a few simple rules.

Was this the germ for the manosphere and Andrew Tate kinda stuff?

Or has this subculture always existed?

I signed up for David DeAngelo's email newsletter in 2003 after getting dumped for the first time. I thought I had done everything correctly by acting like a pussy. Turns out, I did everything wrong.

So I don't think that stuff started with The Game, but it really took the PUA culture into the mainstream. That along with the rise of 'Mystery'. What year did he get that silly show on MTV?

PUA existed before that he was a journalist I believe who started doing it to write a book about it


Some of PUA is legit but if you're really autistic it will be a failure because it relies on paying attention to social cues to tell if it's working

PUA was a thing before The Game. The Game just popularized it. And most people misunderstood The Game. It's not a manual. It's a story about how it can ruin you and your relationships.
