How much money before you retire?

Do you have a goal amount of money saved before you retire? or are you just riding it out till 65?

if you do, what's the #?

keeping COL low makes the retirement number much more attainable

in a question of quantity, you need to be able to quantify things to answer the question.

money is how you quantify assets.

people don't just acquire cash and sit on it. of course its invested in assets. money is just how you attempt to quantify and value those assets.

shouldn't need to explain this

Money is literally the worst way of quantifying assets.

Shouldn’t need to explain this.

Anyway, my number is 3

3 fully paid off houses generating rental income, in addition to the house I live in. Of approximately equal value to the one I live in. Or 6 houses each of approximately half the value etc.

That’s the minimum, anything on top is gravy.

That doesn’t include building a house for each of my boys.

"3 houses" lol yea because all houses are worth the same and produce the same income to live off of

money may not be as necessary in retirement as it is now

in 20 years automation with ai and robotics should mean mass production of basic goods, and the cost of things becomes so low you can afford 100x more than you can now on the same income. not luxury items per se, but basic household goods and common things

How much for a childless fa loser? I think one to live in and one to rent should be more than enough right?

Depends on rental yields and maintenance costs, as well as the cost of housing relative to other expenses. I’d say two to be safe, if you’re really frugal.

I live in the most valuable real estate market in the world so 3 is very doable

it should mean that - but will it?

right now we have tons of automation that lowered the cost of goods and whatnot, but people are either working more than ever or living in poverty as a leech

I don't think a million net worth is enough - million in an index fund might do it though. that's an expected ~70k/year. But you have to consider inflation and volatility of the markets. 1.5M would be much better.

There's no amount of money. As I get older I realize people who "retire" early are lazy leeches.

I will always have a job, it keeps you sharp and young, and contributing to society. Most independently wealthy people still have jobs.

I will never let a job control me or stress me out though.

I agree with this, but I do want to bump down to part time at some point. it feels good to contribute to society and be a productive person.

I'm just going to work until I die. May not be the easiest but it is the simplest. Convenience has it's own value.

Imagine being proud to be cattle for the elites. Working as a white man is a humiliation ritual. You work your ass off and have 1/3 or more of your paycheck taken in taxes and given to the people who hate you the most and would like to see you dead.

That's a very negative way to look at it.

You know you can choose what you do for work, right? If you want, you can even open your own business and not have any boss at all.

Yeah but I’m still gonna have to shell out 1/3 or more of my labour to people that hate me there is no escaping it.

Brootal. Meanwhile the maximum capital gains rate is 23.8% with loopholes to pay 0%. TFW Bill Gates pays less % tax than you. Wagies get cucked again.

As a very conservative number, the typical 3 bed home in Australia will rent for approximately $700 a week. That's $2100 a week for three of these. He specified of approximate value of the home he lives in to, you spastic.

He jumps in every thread to try to flex his net worth and supposed real estate empire. Never with any hard numbers or proof though.

Any topic of discussion, no matter how unrelated, he turns to the subject of him owning homes.

Never any helpful hints or useful info. Just "I own real estate, look how great I am."

I can't possibly imagine how insufferable he is IRL.

But you're not too far off from him, birds of a feather I guess.

Wrong on all counts

I have posted actual photographic evidence - before AI would have allowed faking it - of 7 figure profit distributions and explained in detail how I made these through property development

(I also posted evidence of the far less impressive profits when I was coming up)

Also there are 3 OG miscers who I worked with IRL (2 Australians and 1 Canadian) to help them get off the ground with similar ventures, and workshop their risk management plans around financing etc, also the basics of tax planning for the ausbrahs

And I would do it again.

FYI the Canadian is doing really well.
