How much money before you retire?
Do you have a goal amount of money saved before you retire? or are you just riding it out till 65?
if you do, what's the #?
keeping COL low makes the retirement number much more attainable
if you do, what's the #?

money is how you quantify assets.
people don't just acquire cash and sit on it. of course its invested in assets. money is just how you attempt to quantify and value those assets.
shouldn't need to explain this

Anyway, my number is 3
3 fully paid off houses generating rental income, in addition to the house I live in. Of approximately equal value to the one I live in. Or 6 houses each of approximately half the value etc.
That’s the minimum, anything on top is gravy.
That doesn’t include building a house for each of my boys.

money may not be as necessary in retirement as it is now
in 20 years automation with ai and robotics should mean mass production of basic goods, and the cost of things becomes so low you can afford 100x more than you can now on the same income. not luxury items per se, but basic household goods and common things

right now we have tons of automation that lowered the cost of goods and whatnot, but people are either working more than ever or living in poverty as a leech

There's no amount of money. As I get older I realize people who "retire" early are lazy leeches.
I will always have a job, it keeps you sharp and young, and contributing to society. Most independently wealthy people still have jobs.
I will never let a job control me or stress me out though.

I'm just going to work until I die. May not be the easiest but it is the simplest. Convenience has it's own value.

You know you can choose what you do for work, right? If you want, you can even open your own business and not have any boss at all.

Any topic of discussion, no matter how unrelated, he turns to the subject of him owning homes.
Never any helpful hints or useful info. Just "I own real estate, look how great I am."
I can't possibly imagine how insufferable he is IRL.
But you're not too far off from him, birds of a feather I guess.

I have posted actual photographic evidence - before AI would have allowed faking it - of 7 figure profit distributions and explained in detail how I made these through property development
(I also posted evidence of the far less impressive profits when I was coming up)
Also there are 3 OG miscers who I worked with IRL (2 Australians and 1 Canadian) to help them get off the ground with similar ventures, and workshop their risk management plans around financing etc, also the basics of tax planning for the ausbrahs
And I would do it again.
FYI the Canadian is doing really well.
