Just took my VFT out of dormancy
I got this VFT towards the end of last summer- so it's my first time being a VFT mom lol anyways it just came out of dormancy so it's not super beautiful yet. Im going to track updates here- obviously this thread will only move as fast as the fly trap
sorry im not the best photo taker-
There's a little mold on the dead leaves. I'm going to leave alone for now.
right now I have it under a 13 watt light just to transition it back out of dormancy. soon it will go under it's regular lighting system

Try to feed it some McDonald’s fries or a piece of a chicken nugget

Btw if anyone is interested for soil I use unfertilized 1/2 peat moss and 1/2 perlite. Another mistake I made was repotting it in miracle gro brand. They literally can not have anything besides the water sunlight and insects

ok heres some updates. first is a picture test because I don't think this will work
You can see tiny plants growing but they are very small. A lot of the older traps are dying so it's having a bit of an ugly duckling stage.
It did attempt to grow a flower that I promptly cut off. Flowering VFTs take a lot of energy and its sometimes important to focus on the traps.
I dont know whats going on with the images. i have to get some shit done I'll be back lol
ok so somehow i was able to just copy and paste the images. is that new? that was awesome

Not subbed, but I peek every time the thread gets bumped. I remember having venus fly traps as kids and putting flies in them.
My brother is into carnivorous plants and has several venous fly traps and pitcher plants.

I don’t have enough natural sunlight so I have it under a 30 watt Sansi for 14 hours a day. I also put it in dormancy for the winter. This is my first time owning one so I’ve been learning as I go. I’ve killed a lot of plants so it’s cool to start understanding that they need certain things to flourish I guess. Probably something most people know intuitively but clearly not me
Is it hard to care for? How large could it get?

That’s cool! I just realized I like doing plant stuff lol. I don’t think I’d like to garden though. I am not a fan of creepy crawlers. Although I do feel braver about it now . That’s interesting

more updates,
theres two flowers growing that I have to cut off because they take too much energy from the plant
the traps are still pretty small but you can see a couple good big ones... im hoping once i cut the flowers more large ones will grow
its cool in person you can see all the little ones growing but its hard to capture on camera
