Crazy how small it was back then. Still a major city, but Toronto in the 1950s had roughly the same population as Buffalo, NY. Today Toronto is larger than Chicago and continues to explode in growth (mainly due to migrants).

I grew up in WNY and remember fondly visiting Toronto often in the late 90s-early 2000s. My grandma on my mom’s side got remarried to a Canadian man, so we’d probably drive up at least monthly until they got divorced (short lived fling lmao). Even back then Toronto was a completely different city. It’s changed so much and not for the better. Sad!

I think Toronto is the worst city in North America for demographic changes, it’s just 30% white now.

Can’t believe what was taken from us…. The downtown vibe had the vibe of a weekend afternoon at the park or county fare with the family, everyone was relaxed and didn’t need to keep a eye out for “hostiles”, no crack heads or druggies bothering you, no homeless loitering, people were dressed clean and sharp, presented themselves with dignity I could go on and on
