As a child, I would always feel bad for these people. Always told myself i'd help them once I make some money. Well fast forward to 2026, i make some money now but... for over a decade now, young men have been constantly attacked and blamed for various shiet that we never did. I can tell my empathy is still deeply suppressed inside me but there is no way i'm finna help someone else on my dime.

In 2026, I have cash in my pockets 0% of the time. If they ask for money, I literally don't have it.

This. I lost 95% of my empathy for these people from dealing with them on a daily basis. When I worked downtown I'd pass them every morning and every single one of them was a junkie piece of shit leech.

We live in a society where anyone who falls on hard times will have help available to them. If I lost my job and apartment tomorrow, I could walk into a half-dozen government offices or private charities and be handed supplies, food vouchers and even emergency housing. The problem is these services typically stipulate that you have to be clean. And almost everyone you see begging for money outside of stores, sleeping in tents or pacing the streets screaming obscenities, threatening to kill people who walk past them, is unwilling to get clean. They'd rather shoot heroin and waddle around in their own shit, taking advantage of everyone around them than actually get help.

Fuck 'em is right.

I don't mind the guys that play instruments (buskers) or even just sit there with a pity sign. But the panhandlers that actually approach you and get up in your mix are a different business. I've seen some of these people basically stick their head through car windows at stop signs, which is technically an invasion of personal space.

Men with integrity don’t beg.

You’d be surprised how “normal” junkies can appear when they’re not high. Most of them are master manipulators as well. This is what they do every single day. These cocksuckers use their street smarts to get what they want from others.

Even if that guy wasn’t an addict, he was likely a scam artist of some sort and using his son as a prop to tug at your heart strings. Chances are if you run into him again, you’ll hear the same exact story. It’s despicable behavior I can’t respect.

I grew up poor and we never accepted a penny from social services or any other handout. My dad busted his ass to keep scraps on the table and we dealt with adversity head on. Even as I got older, I held onto those values. I remember one time in my late teens walking from my shitty suburban job, through the city, all the way to the other side of the county because I had no money in the bank or in my pockets. I was dead broke. I could’ve begged some strangers for bus change when I got downtown or asked a bus driver to bum me a ride, but the thought felt so sleazy. So I did what a man is supposed to do – I remained stoic and got myself home 4 hours later on my own accord.

When I was younger, a black guy at a gas station said his car broke and he needed a ride and I gave him one, he then proceeded to ask me for money the whole time. I also tell people to just come straight to my house for facebook marketplace deals.

I'm not dead so I guess it worked out.

You’re lucky he didn’t rob you srs. Letting a stranger off the street into an enclosed space with you is dangerous AF. Scumbags will often ask for money or a favor to lower your guard before doing something heinous. There are many examples of this online.

The first time I got robbed when I was 14, these older kids walked up to my friend and I outside of a Family Dollar asking if we had any weed. That was their ploy to get us into a vulnerable position and, being naïve kids, we were too intimidated to just walk away. They ended up surrounding us, one of them put us into a headlock and dragged us behind an abandoned building where they ran our pockets. Stole about 75¢ and a skateboard from me and a shitty prepaid cell phone from my friend. Ded fkin srs. Thankfully they didn’t beat us down. Lessons learned.

Depends what you're selling I've sold some larger household items and they're boring things only families would want..I get the vibes they're putting when we communicate and they were all normal people

Now I do have a car subwoofer I need to sell and I've been dreading that knowing the type of crowd that would draw I don't want them near my house

Worked with the vulnerable population in a volunteer capacity for a while. It basically erased any empathy I had for them at all, because the ones that weren't drug addicts were thieves or severely mentally ill, but refused to take meds.

Maybe 1% of them actually wanted to improve their station in life instead of just doing drugs and being a societal leech.

A couple years ago right outside an Aldi some guy was panhandling and he was literally standing right in front of a huge “now hiring” sign in front of the store. Had to be a troll job

I live in a nice town where these things aren't supposed to happen.

There is 1 older guy who owns a house, a couple cars and a boat who sits in front of a grocery store and asks for money, I never gave him money but people in the community did until someone posted about his situation on the town's facebook page.

The past few years we have had illegals who clearly don't live here parked in front of another grocery store, but I'm not helping the democrat's agenda, these people shouldn't be here, the democrats can give them handouts.
