7.5/10.

Extremely happy in my personal life. Just sick of wage slaving and wish I had more money so I could see a light at the end of the tunnel. Right now I feel trapped and fear I will die before I can escape wage slavery. Life is a 9.5/10 on days I don’t have to work though.

6/10.

Kinda have lost hope for a lot of things in life, but I'm content with the day to day and am no longer itching to die, even if sleeping is preferable to waking.

8/10 - all the benefits of having "made it"

but

I worry about my kid's futures and I am still scared that after leaving them with enough money to pay their tuition, first house, etc. someone is going to fuck it up and take it away.

You are correct! My job is essentially risk management for others so I learned a lot.

All of my assets except autos are in revocable trusts including my home, my mother-in-law's home, and my mom's home. I carry about $5,000,000 over my net worth in extra liability coverage to keep any lawsuit a "non-event".

Both kids' trust funds are elegantly structured to provide them with assistance while shielding them from liability exposure. In the event that both me and the wife die, the executors of our estate both have incentive and responsibility to look after and manage my kid's financial health.

I worry more about a systematic catastrophe than being personally sued. My kids are teenagers now and I worry that I haven't done enough to prepare them for how shitty the world can be.

I talk to a psychologist, and he does not have any significant concerns.

Many professionals in the behavioral health industry have asked me how I do it. Because they literally don’t know.

I give myself a 7/10

Having a significant retirement really helps. I can spend a great deal of time deliberately working on my mental health, which not everyone can do.

The scariest part for me about kids isn't the financial aspect, it's the friends aspect.

You can minimize the chance of it happening as much as you can, but the reality is that even if you raise your kids great, there's still always that small chance that they'll make friends with the wrong people and everything will turn to chit.

Growing up a lot of my friends came from good families, but turned into absolute disasters because they became friends with scumbags and that's all she wrote.

Same here. I was lucky to fall in with a really strong peer group end of High School. We always tell them to be the dumbest in their group of their friends rather than the smartest.

That is why sports (especially team sports) and Science Olympiad are a non-negotiable for them.
