What is your favorite Caribbean Island?

I’ve been to the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and Jamaica. Cayman Islands was probably my favorite. Swam with sea turtles and sting rays, went to a rum distillery, and spent some time on nice beaches. I have a trip to St Thomas in a couple weeks so hoping thats up there on the list.

Never had an issue walking or driving anywhere on the island. Hard to believe how clear the water was for snorkeling

I've been all over the Caribbean but not sure what my fave island would be. Bermuda is my fave island but it's not considered Caribbean. No poverty. Prettiest beaches. I've been there 5 times so far.

My favs were Grenada and Barbados. The nicest island is probaly St Lucia, which I've never been to.

Never been but me and my girl are looking into taking a cruise to the Bahamas this winter. I'm not completely sold on it yet though. Sitting on an overcrowded tourist beach all day drinking alcohol isn't my vibe. I'd rather visit somewhere more interesting with a cool, historic village area, eat some great food and experience shit that doesn't exist anywhere in the U.S. Maybe somewhere like Curacao or the Old San Juan are of Puerto Rico. 

The impression I'm getting is visiting the Bahamas is like going to Florida with more steps. I could be wrong though.

Been on cruises 4 times, stayed a week 1 time. We stayed at an AirBnB and do not recommend at all. If we were to go for a week again we'd prob stay at Pampano Beach Club. It's a beautiful Island, I highly recommend. It's expensive but worth it. We went to a Franch restaurant, Bolero Brasserie on Front Street in Hamilton. It was amazing. Also had dinner at 1609, a restaurant at the Hamilton Princess Hotel. That was really good too and it's right on the water, open air. Great atmosphere. The Frog & Onion at the Dock yard has amazing onion rings. The Swizzle Inn was good, that's near the caves. There's a nice little bar/coffee place in Hamilton. I'll have to get the name of it. One of the best lattes I've ever had.

If there are cruise ships in the ports don't go to Horseshoe Bay it'll be crowded AF. Warwick Long Bay is really nice and not as popular. Tobacco Bay is great for snorkeling. Crystal and Fantasy caves are pretty cool. The Lighthouse was cool too.

It's def classier. The Caribbean islands have a lot of poverty, you're driving past shacks to get to the beach. There is none of that in Bermuda. Only downside is their weather isn't that much different than ours. When we stayed for a week that was shoulder season end of October and the weather was great but there was a hurricane coming so it was really windy. But the good thing was the cruise ships all left early so the island wasn't crowded at all. You just get a bus pass and you can go all over the island.

It's also great because you don't have to fly to get on the ship. Not sure if any still leave out of NY but if not they leave out of upper NJ port. If you're in NY you just drive there and park. It's awesome.

I’ve been there and swam with the sting rays too. It’s a sand bar off of Grand Cayman called Sting Ray City. For some reason, they are super friendly and docile in that one spot. You can get in there and feed them, pet them, play with them, etc. it’s nuts. Super cool.

Cruises are an extreme value proposition is the thing. Food, lodging, travel, all covered in one shot for usually a very reasonable price. Also, the point of vacations are to relax, not to create more work and stress for yourself, with a cruise, you don't have to plan because again, all covered.

The main issue is that apparently black people like cruises and you can never relax around black people.

Definitely seems like a good value all things considered. We’ll just have to pick one of the pricier cruises to avoid the bullshit. I want my vacation to feel like a floating resort, not a floating club.

Went to the US Virgin Islands the week after back to back CAT 5 hurricanes flattened them. It was for an inshore sediment collection study. Basically cruised around on one of the only non wrenched boats, free dove reefs and scooped sand. Was crazy seeing million dollar boats 20 ft up a cliff in a tree. Had the whole back half of the island to ourselves, only house with solar too. Bad ass trip and place to see.

Aruba is really cool because it has some unique biomes, part of the island has deserts so its cool see a desert next to turqoise waters.

When to St. Lucia which is absolutely beautiful. It has its own rainforest biome in the center. Legit, look up photos of St. Lucia landscape. One of the photos has a rainbow. It's almost always there due to the low hanging clouds and weather patterns caused by the rainforest.

Unfortunately there's a huge gang problem there. And one of the most expensive and beautiful resorts has a travel ban due to targeted robberies. Parts of cities keep getting shut down due to crime. In fact, a month before we left for our trip, they shut down half the city we were staying in. We almost canceled. Absolute beautiful island but absolute chit hole because of the crime.

Landscape wise 100%; absolutely stunning and I don't just say that unless I'm actually truly feeling that. Unfortunately it's just riddled with crime. It's a drug and gun running hub from South America.

Edit: side note, our snorkeling tour guide said there's been no recorded shark attacks in St. Lucia. That seems to be accurate. Definitely a plus!
