Do you save your calories for later in the day?

Do you eat less in the morning and early afternoon so you can indulge more in the evening? I saw Chris Jones talking about this in a Physiques of Greatness video.

Do any of you guys practice this? I’m trying this for the first time today, that’s how this came up

When I was dieting I would save almost all my calories for later in the day, it worked when I was doing it.

I’ve been pretty busy and need to get back on track.

ATM my diet looks like this:

No I eat food that will sustain me for a few hours. And then eat the next meal. If I eat and I’m hungry soon after I assume something wasn’t good with the meal and tweak it by adding something or changing it. So no empty calories basically

Sort of

I workout first thing in the morning and usually don't eat for the first time until around 11 am - 12 pm. From there I just space out farily evenly but I guess it doesn't start until closer to middle of the day.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

I skip breakfast year round. The only difference is if bulking, I eat two dinners. If cutting, just eat lunch and one dinner

Really just math. I eat dirty AF meals for lunch. They are usually 1,000 calories. That allows me another dirty AF 1,000 calorie meal for dinner. At 2,000 cals, I lose 1-2lbs per week until I’m somewhere in the low 180s.

I always liked the way Shawn Ray broke down his meals in this video. Although he actually eats clean, but the concept is the same. It’s just either adding or taking away meals depending on what stage he’s in

That dry potato was news to me, I already skip sour cream and cheese when I order a burrito bowl from Chipotle, this is a great food diet strategy for eating at Sizzler

You might think it’s bullshit from the perspective of having a thermic effect or something like that. But you don’t get to decide that nutrition timing is bullshit in terms of what people prefer, which is what he said. So it seems that you might be the one who’s illiterate.

If he's binging and not allocating x amount of calories per day and that's it, his problem.

If you're eating within your allocation, the timing doesn't matter and he can eat whatever he wants from that allocation to whatever his time preference is.

You're both illiterate.

He just said he’s not doing that. He said he’s timing his nutrition in such a way to prevent that.

Hence nutrition timing is not bullshit.

Maybe you’re not actually illiterate, maybe you’re just disingenuous? I haven’t decided yet.

On normal weekdays, no. Protein meals every few hours.

Weekends when I know I’m enjoying beers, or if I know there’s an after work event with bad food or it’s taco Tuesday with the family? Yea

I did it on Saturday. But I’m back to my regular 2,100 calories/day diet today and for the rest of the week. It was really difficult for me, so I’m only doing that once a week.

What are you binge eating? Things that are bingable tend to be addictive imo. For me - I cut out things with added sugar and high sodium stuff- eventually the cravings for those things went away. I eat pretty clean but I have days where I eat what I want so that I don’t hate my life. I think my body has gotten used to the clean eating so it’s easy to snap back to it when I need to.
This is really just based on my personal experience but things I’ve heard before that showed to be true to me

At night I eat- plain Greek yogurt, 15 g of vanilla ice cream whey protein and 100 g blueberries and it’s very good. If you have a sweet tooth lol

I’d also add that if I let myself get too hungry I get very lethargic and lose any ability to eat clean. I’m ordering birria tacos and maybe tamales

Typically, but a lot of it's more due to simplicity and not generally being that hungry during the day.

That sounds good!

When I get hungry at night I might eat toasted Dave’s killer bread with avocado oil, Italian seasoning and garlic powder. It’s better if I don’t eat it. I’m on a roll right now with my weight loss, today I was at my lowest weight of 2026 so far, and I don’t want to ruin the momentum
