Has anyone ever had luck using the Wayback Machine website?

I'm trying to go back and find old pics (that are probably lost forever).

I've tried using this over and over but never seems to work.

Any other suggestions how to get pic, specifically from the old webshots. org site?

The Wayback Machine is decent but their archive is limited and even the websites they do have are usually incomplete. Photo files are often corrupted. The more traffic, the better chances they have more captures. However if you’re trying to access a personal account on a site that no longer exists, you’re probably SOL.

Pictures have been pretty hit or miss for me, but I have had some success. A couple months ago I was looking up some old fly-tying instructions that I'd used years ago and the current post had broken links to pictures. Stepping back through the different snapshots on the wayback machine I was able to get most of the pictures. Some snapshots had some pictures, some had others. If you've looked at all the snapshots and not had luck, they're probably gone, unfortunately.

there are a couple different versions of the internet archive. The main one

archive.is is believe is an alternative you can use.

Google fucks dick for finding cached old stuff now, but their REVERSE IMAGE SEARCH can be helpful if you have any bit of what you are looking for.

"find similar" can sometimes find shit if you have a pic that is CLOSE or from the same scene..

If not Google try YANDEX image search

Am I imagining things, but wasn't it easier to pull up high res images/galleries of hot celebs etc some years ago on google image search. Results now are shitty pics in random articles and so on.

not much, but some. not very useful for look into old misc threads or forums, it culd not take snapshot of every thread every day.

did av luck find old youtube vids that got taken down tho, then use downloadhelper or jdownloader to save them.

i use instagram downloader extension to get all pics and vids from insta profiles i like in case ppl ever delete them
