Disappointed with Project Hail Mary (Spoilers)

I read the book and I know the relationship with the alien was a big part of the book but this movie felt like they turned it into a feel good Disney movie

Honestly when I first read the book I considered it my favorite book of all time and I still do. This was well before it was even being turned into a movie.

It just felt like they glossed over the whole impending doom of humanity a little too easily. For the most part they did follow the book though, so I will give them credit there. I just think they placed a bit too much emphasis on alien friendship. The movie made the whole mission of saving their planets feel almost like an afterthought.

The music didn't help. It felt very light-hearted, childish/uplifting music all throughout it.

I give it a C+. I've seen way worse and this wasn't a disaster. Curious if anyone who read the book first felt similarly.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

should of been a series as you can't really do justice to any book in several hours

I didn’t read the book and watched it with my kids so it was perfect for me, but from what you are describing and my experience with books made into tv or movies it doesn’t surprise me you were disappointed, was a cool movie to watch with kids, very NPC friendly.

The book was written for school-aged children. No shit the movie had the same target audience.

If you want something better, read the 3-body problem series. The Netflix show wasn't terrible either.

Literally stopped reading OP after...."I read the book.."

Cant stand these whiny mother fukers who get shooked and triggered because the movie isnt an exact replica of the book they read over weeks while on the shitter..
