My pup passed away yesterday

I live alone and mostly have for 10 years, and he's been with me the entire time. I feel fukkin miserable about it and I hate being home right now. Any time I see his toys or bed, or just notice how empty/quiet my house is, I can't help but miss him. Idfk what to do. I miss my buddy so much.

Thanks, man. I lost a dog when I was 16, and that was pretty bad. But this was my dog that I raised by myself since he was 8 weeks old. I've spent way more time with him than any person of recent years. Just feels like a part of me is gone.

About the only time I can empathize with others is in similar such instances.

I refuse to own another pet because of this.
Humans suck and disappoint/betray.
Puppers always got you but they don't stay long enough.

Yeah, I will over the next week or so. But it was just yesterday. I don't want to move on just yet.

Yeah, I don't think I could do it again. He wasn't supposed to go yet. He was insanely youthful for his age. Just an unexpected health event.

Sorry to hear brah. Never easy having a family member pass. I like to look back at the epitaphs on roman dog graves, I feel they did an excellent job conveying the emotions felt:

My eyes were wet with tears, our little dog, when I bore you [to the grave]. So, Patricus, never again shall you give me a thousand kisses. Never can you be contentedly in my lap. In sadness, I buried you, as you deserve. In a resting place of marble, I have put you for all time by the side of my shade. In your qualities, you were sagacious, like a human being. Ah, what a loved companion we have lost.

You who pass on this path, if you happen to see this monument, laugh not, I pray, though it is a dog’s grave. Tears fell for me, and the dust was heaped above me by a master’s hand.

As a big dog lover and had dogs almost all my life, I am so sorry. Know how it feels. I can't even look at photos of my dogs who passed away even after many years.

Be strong brah. Pain will always be there but it does get better.

Time is the best healer right now. Little you can do about the pain and sense of loss, which is still very fresh given how your dog only died yesterday. I still miss pets of mine who died many years ago.

My condolences.

True, always been hesitant knowing it will be painful in a couple of years. Maybe I can change my outlook on these things though. Had me thinking what animals we can get that stay with us longer. Horse is not practical - maybe I'll get a parrot in my old years.

Sorry to hear, op.

rip :(

op i know you can't replace your dog but you could get another one asap. I think you can grieve but new pets would probably help it. if you're in the place to get one. rescuing could feel really good

I am so very sorry for your loss of your pupper. Losing a beloved pet is so hard. I know exactly how you feel as to the emptiness without him there. My life revolved around taking care of my doggo and when he passed it felt so empty and weird that I wasn't taking him for walks at his scheduled times. It's been 3 years and I still miss him every single day. Time does help but it never goes fully away.
