Trump Confirms Strait of Hormuz ‘Completely Open’ to All Shipping Traffic

President Donald Trump confirmed Friday that Iran has fully opened the contested waters of the Strait of Hormuz to all commercial shipping traffic.

Since April 4th, when we started the air campaign against Iran and considered the worst and deadliest day in American history since June 6, which was 10 times worse than Pearl Harbor & 9/11 combined, may be coming to an end.

https://www.independent.co.uk/bulletin/news/strait-of-hormuz-open-iran-oil-b2959850.html

It was Iran who decided to reopen it based on the fact Israel stopped blowing up Lebanon.

So now it's back to the way it was before, and only cost a bunch of lives and a hundred billion dollars along with the US getting nothing in return. WINNING!

I don't know how anyone can spin this as a win for Trump, but I'm sure MAGA will try.

Not to mention the high probability of this war continuing. It's highly unlikely that a permanent settlement will be reached and hostilities will resume

It would be nice if it would end, but it seems like this is all teetering on a thin line, and Trump is, as usual, jumping the gun.

There are no agreements on Iranian uranium, and the Iranians also said they will shut the strait back down if Trump's blockade continues.

More negotiations take place over the weekend, so saying the strait will never be closed again is just more jawboning for the markets sake.

Really depends if Iran is willing to take frozen assets for their uranium. If they give up their uranium they're defenseless.

Look what happened to Gaddafi.

It's so cringe how many people are acting like trump accomplished some big win.

All that happened is that we got our ally to stop killing civilians for a while. If that's a massive win there's something really wrong

Two months ago, gas was $2.80 and one hundred and sixty schoolgirls werent buried in rubble. Spiking the football because of a temporary ceasefire? Lmao. We're currently moving even more military assets into the region. In all likelihood, this is just a break for the next round of hostilities, but the stock market pumped for all of Trump's wall street buddies

Absolutely, and most of this is going to hinge on Israel, which isn't a good bet, because they are notorious for violating ceasefires.

I'll give trump credit for trying, and if he wants to spin letting Iran get their way into some kind of victory then I'm okay with letting the little baby have that too. But if Israel hadn't been violating the agreement Trump came to this is how it would have been all along. Someone has to do something about these Israelis, they can't help themselves. When they see women and children out in the open they start blowing people up. Until that problem is resolved somehow we haven't really made any progress.

Fact is that blockaid did work. They thought they had real power, and the world did too, but they didn't last very long when the US choked them. Did they really think they were going to have control?

Trump says the strait is open and there is a blockade, so whether the iranians who are actually in control open it or not magatards will feel like they're winning.

The strait is not "completely open" like Trump said, its open with limits. Ships have to travel through the designated route approved by Iran, and each ship passing through that route must first obtain approval from Iran. Iran says it will stay this way till a real, permanent deal is signed to end the war once and for all.

This is far from "completely open", it was completely open in January 2026.

His 6th point was on key. Trump just can't stop being a lying conman.

He needs to be impeached solely off market manipulation.

Polymarket dipped 20% on a deal done by the 30th.

And that's all it is, Trump says things he knows the market will react positively to, it's what he cares about. His stock market. Even tho its not the reality of the situation...

You would think that by now, people (Trumpers) would have understood this, but they still fall for it. They literally don't question anything Trump says...

I mean, the bullshit started on day one with the biggest inauguration crowd ever, like no one had ever seen (literally, you couldn't see them), and it worked for years. So I kinda get how we got to this point.

And if you think that's not partially going into the Trump family coffers somehow, you're a fool. He's made billions off market manipulation and the US taxpayers already.

Whoever is in power after him should pass a bill that everybody in Congress or any other high level position - and their family members - need to provide an audit of their financial dealings on an annual basis. All of them already do massive amounts of insider trading.

Guess the "blockaid" (blockade) did, in fact, not work...

Some people (Trumpers especially) don't want to admit it, but Iran has leverage with the Strait... for the Strait to go back to how it was in January 2026, Trump would need a full military invasion... This would be too costly, and anyone thinking otherwise is coping... Not saying it couldn't be done, but it would be a high price to pay, and Congress won't approve of it, nor would the voters.

That's why Trump is now trying a naval blockade to force Irans hand... But that isn't working either... Irans not stupid, they know what they have with using the Strait as leverage, they aren't about to let up on it... they will use it to their advantage in negotiations to get a deal they are happy with... not a deal that only the U.S. is happy with.

Trumps going to have to do a full invasion (doubtful imo) or he will have to concede some things in negotiations (most likely outcome)... Conceding to Iran will obviously not be a good look, no matter how Trump/MAGA try to spin it. Politically, this is over for MAGA party. This is the shitshow Trump got himself into.

So, what does he do?

When Iran wins this it collapses US hegemony, so by the looks of it Trump really has no way out.

The negotiation angle of this is no different than Ukraine and Russia. Two parties that can't come nowhere close to a deal.

In the meantime Trump just lets this go on, with no plan, and no possible way to win. In the meantime he just continues to tell the markets that the US won the war and the strait is open.

I've been watching this military professor named Robert Pape lately, and he's said this war in nowhere close to over.

He's been right. I'm not going to lie, I got fooled yesterday. But that was over confusion of the message from Iran's FM. The IRGC shut him down.

Seems like there is a power struggle going on within the Iranian government, but the moderates are out, and the IRGC hardliners are in.

Looks like this goes on until the Dems win back Congress in the midterms, and the best bet is just impeaching Trump for fucking this up.

But that all boils down to how long Trump can manipulate the markets before the real reality sets in.

If Trump can keep the top 10% insulated from any financial burden of a market correction, than the economy will be portrayed as resilient, even though the bottom 90% face the harsh reality of their purchasing power getting destroyed.
