Did you notice that cab driver has gone from a livable wage to total poverty?

I was watching the 5th element and I realized that cab driver used to be seen as a job that any able-bodied person could do and earn a living. Sure it was hard, blue collar work but you wouldn't starve.

Now when I order an Uber I get the impression most of these guys are about 2 weeks out from the homeless shelter. They're making like $20 an hour, before the gas and depreciation on their car.

Cab drivers used to scam the fuck out of people all over the world. If they weren't such pieces of shit, their business might not have been disrupted.

Never met someone who did any of these "use your own car" side gigs for more than a year. Because that's the time it takes a retard to understand overhead vs profit. Sometime around midnight on April 15th they realize they made minimum wage at best and put 5x the wear and tear on their cars.

Best part is when the apps made you register your car to ensure it is within their standards, aka within 10 years old. So you cant even side hustle in a beater and laugh off the wear and tear. People are out here getting loans for the opportunity to make minimum wage, sad.

So true. At least it's a good education in business that doesn't cost 100K however most of them will never see it as a learning experience. They just think "big greedy corporation" crap.

If it paid that well everyone would be doing it.

If you take a job where anyone could do it, but just not many are willing to do it even though it's not dirty, dangerous, exhausting, or risking prison, the pay is probably going to low.

I never remember cab driver being considered “an honest days work to support a family”

Idk I didn’t really grow up using cabs unless it was like coming from an airport or on vacation. Cab drivers were always dirty immigrants when I took them
