You'll get all the ups AND the downs - so if you choose Michael Phelps and win 8 gold medals you'll also have to deal with losing millions in sponsorships for smoking weed.
You also have to put in all the work and sacrifices they did, so if they're dealing with a broken family or broken body you'll have that too.
I'm using the term "pro athlete" loosely so if you want to pick a pro wrestler or something go for it.

Maybe someone along the lines of John Cena or Dwayne Johnson. Did well in wrestling, then went into the movie industry. Still both in fairly good shape, although at some stage the gear use will catch up with them.

You guys probably don't remember Jake Locker, but he was the quarterback for the TN Titans for a few years, then he just took his millions and quit when he felt like it. He did have a glass ankle, but probably gave no fuks that he took his decent bank account and bailed.

"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

I would choose any generic NFL offensive lineman who has an 8-10 year career. You're likely earning $60-70M over that time, and you're not an actual celebrity outside of die hard fans. You can quietly retire with your $60m and fuck around for the rest of your life from age 32 on.

Why anyone would want to pick a physically violent sport is beyond me
You can choose so many other sports that pay the same without the brain damage

CTE is something that only running backs and WRs get. And the new rules have basically eliminated the hits that would have caused it in the past.

Repetitive small impacts are considered the main risk factor for CTE.

i like the tiger woods choice. global superstar but also could slip under the radar with a bit of a disguise and people wont recognize him
tons of money, long career. who wouldnt enjoy the slow pace of walking around the amazing courses worldwide, then the buzz of each stroke
dont care for soccer players, fk all that running around and also relying on a lot of luck on the outcome.

“ The claim isn’t accurate—post-2012 research still shows CTE risk is driven by total head impacts, and offensive linemen continue to have the highest exposure due to repetitive hits every play, even if individual hits are smaller.”

Luke Littler, World Darts Champion.
He's 19, has already dominated his sport, hangs out in pubs all day and can be a fat fuck and still revered in England. 3 million pounds in total earnings already. Never has to worry about injury or needing drugs to sustain performance.

I don’t know soccer but I would choose some white handsome soccer player who made a $100m+ in potential but never really panned out.
Would have the looks and money without the problems all of the post career fame. Soccer player is the best to choose because they are mostly short and look like normal guys, so you’re not stopped everywhere you go.
