Microsoft offers buyouts to 7% of its workforce

Meta also recently announced 10% layoffs

Looking like a rough patch is here for anyone in software. These are some of the most desired employers in software and there will be downstream effects too I bet.

"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Complex environment navigation and thumb based work. The day we see a robot navigate a bustling construction site is the day we should all buy land with water on a mountain and a bunker.

I have a thumb based job and its scary talking to people who send emails for a living and don't really do anything. Wouldn't be surprised in 50% of the US workforce is replaceable and or can just be cut and the place runs on a skeleton crew regardless of AI advancements.

So far its all tech companies, even the Nike comment above is only in IT. The turning point will be when a big company announces a robot HR or robot accounting and fires everyone.
