Unpleasant recurring dreams you experience

- being back at college / university and enjoying it, but then realising I have not attended a vital class for the whole time and will fail the whole thing. Scrambling around trying to fix it

- teeth falling out

- having a baby or pet and forgetting about it and it dies

Happens at least every year.

Have had the teeth dream multiple times, and the college procrastination when I was in college.

When I was in Iraq the worst kind of dreams I had was being back home and feeling that relief, but then being attacked while in that environment that was supposed to be safe and protected from what we were doing in Iraq. Real mindfuck and I have no idea where my brain got it from. Just like, what is the worst possible scenario we can create lol

While initially getting sober from alcohol use disorder I would have dreams of drinking and wake up scared I actually drank.

I had a lot of amazing perceived positive dreams though. A lot of lucid dreaming, complex explorations of myself and the universe.

I am grateful for it all. Even the perceived negative stuff. It is all a gift.

I don’t really have recurring dreams and haven’t for about 20 years (srs). However when I was a kid I used to have recurring nightmares pretty often.

One of them involved being trapped in some industrial factory walking along unsteady catwalks before falling into a pit of lava. Almost looked and felt like being in hell. Makes little sense but it felt insanely real when I was 5 or 6.

I would always wake up in terror laying in a pool of sweat.

Years later I put it together and realized my brain was dreaming of the old PS1 game “Eggs of Steel”

Damn. War dreams must be something else. I personally have nice recurring dreams too. Overall I enjoy dreaming.

One is where I'm stuck at a great height like on the top of a building or bridge then I realize I must be dreaming jump off and fly away

9 times out of 10 i'm wide awake in my dreams. That's why I'm never sleeping. I'm afraid of heights in real life but in lucid dreams I'll jump off a c liff because i know i'm 100% safe

Yeah the college dream thing where you missed a class the whole time or failed the one test you needed to pass in order to graduate seems to be very common among people.

I had an awful job and boss for 3 years from the age of 30 to 33. Daily threats of being fired if you didn't produce among many other stresses of the job. I continue to this day to have constant nightmares about it. It's frustrating because 3 years is such a small period of time overall in my life in the scheme of things but for some reason I continue having constant dreams about it.

being ripped apart by arrows, rifles, spears and swords

being carried away by surging waves

being thrown into the midst of a great fire

being struck by lightning

being shaken to death by a great earthquake

falling from thousand-foot cliffs

dying of disease

committing seppuku at the death of one’s master.

We are not taught how to use our brains, our bodies, our energy.

We are taught to be obedient good workers who only “solve” short sighted problems on repeat, who don’t question anything and have a very limiting set of beliefs forced upon us. The ability for this programming to take effect in us is directly related to short term survival instincts.

The desire to be accepted, etc. So we do what we are told including thinking specific ways.

No one told you could feel that. You haven’t practiced feeling it.

I feel like I'm getting ripped off, I don't have this dream about missed classes or failing. I did have this dream where I was back in collegetown, might have been a reunion, and I kept running into my school friends, work friends and people from home. It was really weird.
