I’m actually not a racist. I acknowledge statistics and understand them fully, I also find racial humor to be hilarious. If anything, I’ve become a classist in recent years, but I still believe in judging others as individuals.

Perhaps that makes me a naïve or foolish, but I also grew up in a neighborhood where many different groups got along. Racial tensions were nonexistent back then. Some of the most important people in my early life were black and Puerto Rican, so it would be illogical for me to write off an entire race when that worldview clashes with my personal experience.

Of course, if I was relentlessly bullied by blacks or never exposed to them, I could imagine a scenario where I develop a strong hatred. That just never happened to me. In many ways, I’m grateful.

Yeah I have met a bunch of really nice black people in my life, and it sucks that they get mixed in with the bad stereotypes, but the behavior among this demographic is prevalent enough that the "never relax" meme really does apply to real life, unfortunately.

I mean, you'd have to be a complete moron to willingly move to a majority black neighborhood, or walk through one at night, or not cross the street/re-route if you're walking toward a group of blacks sitting on a stoop or loitering on a street corner.

I lived in Harlem (114 & Adam Clayton Powell) in the early 2000s and was perfectly safe. My buddy lived in the East Village and got robbed 2x.

If you live in the "hood" make sure you either a) live next to a church or b) live next to some real Africans.

Thugs generally don't commit crime in NYC against white people in their own neighborhood, esp near a church. And the Africans will drop a dime on any foolishness they see, they hate thug culture.

Prejudice (crossing the street) is a defense mechanism in all animals for self preservation. Racism is a dumb coping mechanism to feel less shitty about your own life.

I mean, that says it all that you had to make sure to live next to a church or real Africans if you wanted to feel safe though. Just curious, did you willingly live there because it was your first, reasonable choice, or it was what was realistic for you at the time? I think you had said you live on Connecticuts gold coast now, there's most likely a reason why you decided to move there to start a family versus staying in Harlem.

Let's be reality, if you were walking towards a group of black dudes loitering on a street corner, your defense mechanism would be triggering much higher vs walking towards a loitering group of any other demographic.
