I really have trouble believing this, but I'd be happy to return as a customer if they go back to how things were like 4 years ago. The most recent time some fat neckbeard tried charging me and extra $4 for extra beans and rice which used to be free with absolutely no hesitation, and I just walked out.

Can confirm Chipotle used to be great. I used to go to a gym next door to one and it was my go to post workout meal. Huge portions, fresh ingredients, good flavors. Back then the chicken was well seasoned and you could get a tortilla on the side for free. They gave so much food you could wrap your own burrito and still have a full bowl leftover. So for less than $10 I was eating 2-3 meals.

Now it’s gone to shit. Everything they serve is bland and tastes like they left it sitting out for hours.

The cost of the extra material only cost pennies a bowl. If they double your amount, it's not even going to cost them much more than a dollar. But, you get bean counters in a company and some nerd who's only life experience was between classes in college says "those pennies add up" so convinces them to try to save some pennies, then people stopped going to Chipolte and see what that cost them. This CEO knows this. Smaller profit margin per bowl, but you sell more bowls and more than make up for it.

Not even going to hear the words of a CEO as if I’m actually going to consider them to be legitimate lol.

This guy can fuck himself. He is in charge of blatant violations of state and federal labor laws for his employees and practices to screw the customer as much as possible.

He would not be the CEO if he didn’t do those specific things.

Yep, this was my biggest gripe. I understand trying to not overserve on Chicken and Steak, because those items are more costly. But they started trying to skimp on fucking rice and beans, which cost literally nothing and haven't increased in cost at all over the past couple years. It was a complete bonehead move by the company.

Some will study a Profit and Loss sheet and start considering every expense as a loss, and that's where the toxic mindset starts. They see it cost $3 in ingredients to make a $15 bowl, instead of seeing the $12 profit, they just see a $3 loss and they start thinking "if I could eliminate that loss I'd make X dollars extra per year" and there we go down that rabbit hole.

It's like a place I work, we increased prices this year again, and while the numbers are the same, the amount of declines of sales/service is so much higher. They are like "well the numbers are still good" and I'm like, those people will go get those services elsewhere. Now customer retention has been dropping.

this. it always amazes me when restaurants are stingy about low cost ingredients. it's such a short-sighted mentality. they make profit from the $15 meal, not from the dipping sauce or extra vegetables, which costs them pennies.

sure these low cost ingredients add up in the long-run, but it also adds up when customers stop coming back because it rubs them the wrong way when restaurants are stingy.

there's nothing worse than paying for your meal and the kunt cashier wants to do a second transaction just for a 20 cent dip. it's poor customer service and it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
