Cannot believe people actually turn down legit "pain meds" from doctors

First of all they're hard enough to get as it is. But most importantly, you have absolutely no idea when you might be in pain in the future. You could get hit by a bus tomorrow be in extreme pain, but then have the doctor change his mind and be like "ehhhh, why don't we have to take extra strength Tylenol." Meanwhile you are suffering with pain because as we all know the only real benefit of Tylenol is when anti trumpers OD'd on it cause RFK and Trump said it was bad. I overheard a coworker in their 50's saying "My doctor wanted to give me oxycodone, but I thought that might not be a good idea since I've heard bad stuff about it. It's like "Ok, then don't take it now, but you never know when you might need it in the future, and who knows, in 10 years, they might abolish all effective pain meds so people in real pain are forced to get them on the street.

I know these guys who are like this.

My old man never took a medicine in his life because my grandmamas was popping pills, so seeing that he decided to never take one.

I probably would be if I could get them. Even though my status qualifies for them, there is a slight risk of seizures because of the interference with my nerve medication and therapy. I could care less at this point. Just want the pain to go away. Hell, a 30 second seizure prob means no pain felt in my legs for 30 seconds. I'll take that.

Bru there are people on hospice who turn down meds. The only people the β€œwar on drugs” impacted was those who most need it.

I spoke with a hospice manager and they people literally feel shame and guilt. Like it is actually wrong to do.

I turned down Co-codamol after my gallbladder operation, I said I had never taken anything stronger than Paracetamol & Aspirin & if you say that they look at you like you are mad. Took nothing for it-my IBS was already messed up enough from the Fentanyl & other stuff they had used for the knockout & I was messed up hallucinating when I came round.

Just read this book & the pain industry really is a cesspool, an epidemic created out of total greed & corruption by the companies, the medical people, media & politicians.

I feel like you should always accept because then you can sell them if you don't want them.

I don't know any degenerates in my personal life who would buy though.

I was munching percs like crazy after I had surgery. Easy to see how people become addicted

I'd pop a couple percs then smoke some weed and drink a cocktail or two and be absolutely floating

If you’re in so much pain that you actually need them, having a stockpile puts you at high risk for abuse. You need some kind of access controls in place.

Also make sure to secure or dispose of old pills if you live with other people. My degen friends and I back in high school took all kinds of shit just from raiding the medicine cabinet.

But that was different era. I doubt it’s even possible to get your hands on half of what we and our parents accumulated over the years. Doctors used to hand shit out like candy.

Unreal.

I had a script for dilaudids after I came home from open heart surgery and another script when I broke 2 ribs, I used all of them, sometimes I would take 4 at a time just to get high as they were intended to be used.

The main issue of expired meds is the efficacy of them may have deteriorated over time.

Take all them to be sure they're still good, just don't kill yourself.

Yeah the only time I ever had them I kept them around in case needed

These days I would do the same sure but I have to be careful when I take any as I am subject to drug testing and they would show up on that.

If the prescription is new then no problem but if it's been past so many months they consider it a failure

Some people are super afraid of them because they heard of too many people getting a life altering addiction after an injury

Reality is only certain people are predisposed to addiction like that
