Do you think kids should be raised tough?

I don't think you should be trying to be your kids best friend or even a teacher just something like a prison guard and the kid being the prisoner making him or her hate you and letting them know every day who is boss and who is the employee. What you think?

u should be hard on ur kids but need to make sure it's 110% out of love. kids will find out the difference eventually if parents were abusive for selfish reasons

be too relaxed and ur kids will end up bums like johnvee or explosivemidget

it's a thin line between being tough on your kids and just being a straight up asshole.

Obviously, you shouldn't try to be your kids "best friend" because that's not what they need. They need a parent, someone to guide them in the right direction, so they make something of themselves in life, which means being strict when needed, making sure they have rules, boundaries, etc, and being understanding and loving when needed. It's not black and white, being a "prison guard" is good way to screw them up, just like being their "best friend" will.

Don't actually have kids so I can't really speak except from what I've seen, there has to be a balance.

This morning the misc taught me that I’m failing as a father. So far I’ve learned that I should be putting max 5-10% of my time into raising kids, and the time that I do put in, I should be acting like a prison guard to them.

Most miscers can't even get a good, long lasting relationship with a female to even think about having children. Obviously, OP falls into this category.

The real answer is that all of you with an answer in your head are wrong because every kid is different so if you have a set answer in your mind, you're already wrong.

If for example a kid is a smart but nerdy beta reddit type, you should encourage them to study hard and get a good job, etc. Screaming at them and making them do pushups and fix a car is likely to mess them up and rob them of their potential.

If a kid is a Chad athletic type, you should encourage them to social maxx and do something sales related. Locking in their room and making them study math all day is likely to mess them up and rob them of their potential.

And so on.
Balding is death. If you have no hair, you have no life.

What does "really whooping their asses" do? What does "really whooping their asses" look like?

Im not saying spankings are bad, especially to toddlers etc to keep them from acting up, having tantrums... But after a certain age, "whooping their asses" doesn't help.

Thats right boyo, my parents beat on me and it just turned me into a wimp, my dad would literally say that I wasn't too big for him to put a beating on, it wasn't until I started strength training when I was 18 that he stopped doing it, it wasn't just the beatings either, he would tell me if I "fought back" that he would make it worse, and I never fought back, my parents were unfit.

If I ever have children (fuck everyone who keeps saying KIDS), I will be like a stern but uplifting sports coach. Only that I will teach them that sports is for losers and advise them to be doctors

I don’t have kids but I think the the best parents play it mostly down the middle, lead by example, and try to set their kids up for success. They kinda show their kids the way so that the kids want to be successful.

The super hard ass parents that don’t allow their kids to make a mistake just set their kids up for a big fall or a big rebellion when the kids become young adults.

The other end of the spectrum, the parents that try to be friends, the ones that play that “I’d rather my kids smoke weed wirh me instead of out on the streets” bull shit, raise really weird kids that are kinda losers.

I think as long as you don’t get divorced during the kids formative years, you’ve beat out 80% of American parents

Imagine needing to "really whoop their asses" for them to learn not to act up. That just means you are low T who doesn't have the respect of his child. My word is enough for them to know not to act up. I agree that spanking can help toddlers with their tantrums etc, but as the kid gets older, it doesn't help. Especially when you are dealing with preteens/teens

I am raising my kids to be logical, honest, hard working, and to defend themselves at all times. This doesn't mean I have to scream or threaten them, and I don't. The best way to teach them is by example.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Spanking toddlers? They won't hit back, teens might hit back and that's probably what your afraid of a teen whooping your ass. I don't have that problem.

Yes talking about as toddlers or less than 8. I definitely think there could have been some behavior modification had I been able to beat their asses a few times as children. I’ve seen kids my age and younger and they all seem like they needed a few.
My kids are pretty well behaved but you can tell they didn’t grow up with the fear of an ass beating. Maybe it’s not a horrible thing in the long run. Time will tell

Depends on what someone considers as tough. For some that means beatings and for others it means taking their ipad away.

Every kid's different and some need a firmer hand than others. Some seem to be uniquely skilled at pushing your buttons, lol, but I don't think there's ever been a time I've yelled that I didn't wish I hadn't. There's only been a handful of times I've lost my cool and my oldest is 19 and my youngest is 7, so I've been in the trenches as a parent for a long time, but I've regretted it every time. There's just almost always a better way.

@Godfrd824 is correct. Example is best. My kids see how my wife and I treat others and we conduct ourselves and know what the expectation is.

I mean, there's two camps. Either the kid is old enough to understand what they're doing or why it's wrong, or they're not. If they are, whooping their ass is less effective than explaining why what they're doing is wrong and the consequences of their actions. If they're not, then they won't understand why you're beating on them.

Plus the whole point is to get them to trust you unconditionally. Once they do, things become much easier. If you're going off the rails, they won't want to tell you anything.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

I think I spanked one kid once. A single smack on the bum when a toddler was doing something dangerous and words had been ineffective at changing behavior. I got spanked when I misbehaved and had my mouth washed out with soap when I used bad language. Honestly don't think it makes much difference one way or the other most of the time. Having good examples is far more important in my opinion. But then I see kids without the best examples grow up to be fine adults sometimes, too, just not as much as the ones with good examples. So, I figure you parent as best you can to put your kid in best position for success, but ultimately it's up to them.

Yeah I’ve put thought into this a little more. My 12 year old has never been punished at all. He’s always been very reasonable.- anything that’s been behavior related is also like adhd related so it’s a weird thing to punish.
The other kid with me is my nephew. He is almost 6 and has had a very rough life. He is very very very behaviorally challenged . Like I wonder if there will be a day that he offs us. It’s doubtful whoopings are the thing for him although idk. It’s like trying gentle ways only get so far . ?? Everyone accommodates but he’s going to be an adult wondering why that stopped so idk
