People are pussies. I just did 12 sets of lateral raises after doing chest and shoulder presses because it felt good and the pump was amazing.

I usually do at least six sets of lateral raises myself. Except I’ve been doing them before chest here lately. Today included. Making shoulders the priority.

Actually, for hypertrophy, my experience has been volume plus frequency > intensity.

When I was into powerlifting, I found that intensity was probably the most important variable.

I think I've mentioned to you in another thread I've found the polar opposite - I've seen great gains in size and strength since chopping back to 1 balls out work set and 1-2 warm ups. Delts and tris last night, 2 moves for delts (OHP, dumbbell lateral raise) and 3 for tris (pressdowns, skullcrushers with warm ups, single arm cable extensions with no warm up).

Whatever works is what's best. Looking good.

It’s overtraining if u did actual sets

Geeky OP did some stretches with bands and called it “sets” lmao

The only actual sets that count are the incline db presses. Rest are barely “sets”. Congratz OP, u did a 2 set workout

I don’t think you’ve taken the time to consider what you’re arguing against. I think you just took the “25 sets” in my title at face value.

Did I do 25 total sets? Yes.

But I do 6 to 8 sets per body part, twice per week:

Yesterday -
Shoulders - 8 sets
Chest - 6 sets
Triceps - 8 sets
Neck - 3 sets

I do that twice weekly.

It’s not a waste of time, as evidenced by the progress I’ve made over the past 2.5 years, even after all these years of lifting,

I played that game for a decade.

It’s great for strength.

But for muscle, volume is king (and to a lesser degree, frequency).

Also I’m 45 years old and I’ve been lifting for 2/3 of my life. High intensity is not the answer to anything at this point except sore joints. If your results have been better than mine over the past three years with more weight and less volume, then more power to you. But I sincerely doubt that’s true.
