The high gas prices don't affect me that much. It's probably the least worst out of all the post-Covid price increases by a good degree. But for the general population, nothing seems to make them rage harder than gas prices going up. I don’t have the data on tariffs but I don’t recall inflation going up much or at all after “liberation day.” Didn’t notice grocery prices changing much in 2025. Basically, it's a tax on businesses, and it eats into their profits, so naturally, a business will look to recoup those profits, the easiest way is to raise prices for consumers.

Just like how high gas/diesel prices usually increase prices in stores for consumer goods. Since everything needs to be transported by truck/rail/ship, logistics prices go up, expenses for wholesalers go up, = cosumer products get more expensive because businesses won't eat the extra costs.

As much as Trump claimed consumers wouldn't eat the tariff tax, that's just not how economics work.
