Lions have small hearts, lungs, and endurance. You avoid it's initial attack, you have a real shot. Not to mention, they're cautious creatures. Making loud noises, and well as defecating yourself is a good detractor against a lion attack giving yourself openings for serval attacks with your medieval mace

All a Komodo Dragon needs a little prick with its teeth and you're paralyzed by it's toxic saliva.

I'd take my chances with a lion.

It's komodo all day, at least you stand a good chance.

No way someone is winning against a lioness with a fucking mace, maybe with decently long and sturdy spear you might survive and even then it's a big maybe, but with a mace you are 100% fucked.

Komodos dont instantly paralyze you, plenty of time to bash their head in with the mace. Would just have to slowly maim it until it ran away or it's fucked up enough to move in for the kill. If there is more than one or several you are probably fucked. And yes I'd say they can climb trees as well @awillis, goannas can and they are basically overgrown goannas.
