It's over for every job within the next 20 years. You should seriously be saving money and investing aggressively to prepare for a post-labor future.

AI has already been around for almost 4 years now and hasn't claimed a single job yet

All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Mirin’. $2k and 2 months for a full movie is going to be pure slop even with a solid AI workflow. They just had to get in quick on the Iran hype and use it as cover for a lame stunt.

This is probably the only window where it could be profitable to make a shitty AI movie. The fact that it’s AI is still gimmicky enough to work as marketing in itself.

Once the tech is actually capable of it, the 100 bullshit movies you make will be lost in sea of sea of bullshit everyone else is churning out. It’ll become just worthless as all the accounts peddling regular AI art became by 2024.

How does a post labour future work? Drones kill whoever can’t afford to pay the ai tax?

That depends entirely on how we as a society decide to allocate resources. Based on our past track record as a species, I'm not optimistic.

Nah, various companies have dumped reams of staff and then run headlong into the limitations of current AI and desperately started rehiring.

People also fucking hate it. If you look at the comments under anything even remotely AI looking, there's a lot of backlash. I saw people threatening to boycott a restaurant the other day because the photos on the menu looked a bit AI generated.

UBI BBY!

But yeah, we're probably not getting a "post labor" future any time soon. We'll lose some low paid menial stuff, like how combine harvesters killed farm work and machinery cut factory jobs, but we'll still need human oversight. New industries will emerge from this too.

This isn’t totally accurate, my company has replaced almost half its staff with autonomous agents. They were low level employees though.

AI will be around but the human factor will be valued even higher.

@averagekenneth

Those firings where they claimed AI were simply an excuse from over hiring previously.

If a job was eliminated, what was the job title? It wouldn’t just be one company cutting it out. All companies across industries would be eliminating it if AI could replace it.

Or is the argument that some companies are lagging behind? Because I can assure you if there was real value to be gained that lag you think exists would be relatively small.

So all these articles getting published saying Meta has cut 10k employees because AI can replace them…. Or Block cut its workforce by 80% because AI can replace them…. These aren’t really AI doing any of that.

It’s purely posturing by these companies that over hired. They aren’t going to be more productive. They will continue the same level of productivity because they had too many people to begin with. And the AI advocates will use it as evidence to say.. “See, Meta is still productive after the layoffs all thanks to AI”.

That’s not what’s happening though. They overhired to the point the excess employees wasn’t productive so they performed layoffs and for optics to shareholders spun it as AI allowing them to be more productive with fewer people.

You think all other companies wouldn’t cut their workforce by 80% just like Block if AI was genuinely replacing jobs? No, Block and Meta simply had useless people they hired to begin with and used the AI front for their layoffs. This happens all the time where people who aren’t needed get hired in times of growth then layoffs happen once companies realize those people aren’t needed.

That is not the same thing as AI performing jobs of people these companies do need and eliminating entire positions.

If AI is doing this, name the positions. Don’t name the companies, saying my company cut X number of employees. That is circumstantial and the reason is just as likely your company did not need that person rather than AI performing their essential duties.

If it can perform essential duties of a job title it won’t be limited to elimination of one company or a handful of companies. All companies will eliminate that position and it won’t exist anywhere anymore

So what are the job titles for those who think it’s eliminated any job so far???

he's a smart dude. there's no reason not to believe him when he speaks. i do believe things will get worse for normies but not pertaining to finances

many people truly live to work and will be besides themselves without it. drinking/drug deaths will skyrocket, etc.

everyone without purpose will just be filling the void. it'll be interesting to see what people come up with to cope with it.

That sounds like something I'd say if I wanted to be certain my grandkids would have an advantage over yours.

Elon also said we'd have full self-driving cars by 2017.

That would be awesome but I don’t believe it for one second Elon may be high IQ smart but he’s also autistic and probably not very good at predicting human behaviour there is zero chance ai just does all the hard work and lets humans chill and do whatever we want all day if it came to that point the government would probably just kill all the non elites

it's not just elon saying this though. go watch any of the brilliant minds speaking about ai and the future. it's all generally the same consensus on it. now, whether or not the powers that be will let us plebs just do what we want is another story completely

They are literally telling us to our faces, AI will replace us.

Whole industries.

The only reason for the pushback on that truth is to keep the Western borders wide open.

That makes literally no sense. Do you not understand how to economy works?

Take away all jobs and spending power from 98% of the population and the entire system crashes. Exactly the opposite of what the elites want
