Wouldn't be too arrogant with china. Watching old docs, the american sentiment was the same just before wwii regarding japan, where dismissed reports on their mitsubishi a6m zero fighter etc. There was even thinking going around that even though their planes could be good, the pilots wouldn't be able to fly up high and do well as their squinting eyes couldn't handle the sun.
