It’s insane how only a couple thousand dollars can change your life (srs)
Speaking from personal experience. 2025 was a rough year financially. No raise, expenses went up. I was living paycheck to paycheck.
Then in December I got a Christmas bonus of roughly $2500. Obviously not a crazy amount of money, yet it was enough to build a small emergency fund, restart my brokerage account, pay off the little bit of credit card debt I was carrying and travel to visit my mother out of state.
Less than the amount of a single biweekly paycheck was enough to bring very beneficial blessings and push me ahead pretty significantly. Literally from being dead broke right before the deposit hit my account.
Now it’s June and most of that cushion has evaporated. I’ve had to pay for small car repairs and things, but my investments continue, so that measly bonus is still paying off in a sense.
And last Christmas wasn’t the first time this happened. Years ago I had about $3k saved and was able to start an Amazon FBA business with it.
It just made me reflect on how much I could accomplish if I simply had a respectable income. I’ve never been bad with money, I just never made enough of it. My father taught me how to hold down a steady job and be a respectable member of society, but not how to get ahead in this cutthroat world, so once again I say, being born poor was the worst thing to ever happen to me in my entire life.
Imagine what I could achieve if I made $10k tomorrow.
Guess I gotta keep hustlin cuz.

When you're struggling, it seems almost like a life changer, especially to stress levels and confidence
When you're doing OK, it's a nice bit of extra spending money
When you're doing well, it's barely noticeable
It's crazy how much the value changes based on your current situation

Did you mean a couple hundred thousand?
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

I used to pull an extra G or so per month, just between Amazon and eBay as well OP. After a while, it was no longer worth my time, but I'm sure it's still possible. That extra cushion does feel nice
That would help me out a ton in regards to paying debt.
Why's you stop?

$10k cash would be nice. $25k even better. Just to pay off debt.

Please keep a 3-6 month emergency fund and invest after that is established. Then you won't enter this rollercoaster every time you blow a fuse or roll your ankle. For the legitimate safety of your office space co workers you need to be financially stable as to avoid the whole postal outcome.

Stopped because while this all sounds easy, it's very time consuming and I make way more just focusing on my regular job.

What sucks is these methods aren’t really attainable anymore for the average person. There was an Amazon FBA thread on old misc from 2014ish where brahs would literally order junk from Alibaba like generic fidget spinners for literal pennies and resell them on Amazon for huge markups. It was like printing money. Then the Chinese figured out the game and undercut all of the American sellers. The opportunity became overly saturated and now it takes tens of thousands of dollars and branding to actually break through.
Also, I remember those Extenze commercials when I was growing up. Or what is Enzyte. Either way they hsed to display them at the gas station counters and one time when we were 15 or so, my friend bought a pack and took a bunch of pills. He wasn’t about to get laid. He just wanted to see what would happen. Apparently nothing.

The only point I’ll concede is that I stretch my budget razor thin to live in a nice luxury apartment, but the reason I do so is that I refuse to live in the conditions I was raised in. I grew up in the hood. I got jumped in my teens and robbed at gunpoint in my early 20s. I’m sick of petty crime and ghetto bullshit, so I made sure I could live in one of the safest suburbs at whatever cost it takes. And I’ll never go back srs.

You should be paying off all of your credit card debt before investing. That debt likely carries interest around 20-30%.

i know the feeling! the last 6 years at the company i'm at, we had no commission at all, living paycheck to paycheck. Now we just got new owners in Feburary and they got us on a commission plan like we should be on, I've already made an extra 18k so far compared to last year!
