Is skincare cope?

I’ve been Microneedling, using retin a, red light mask etc for 4 months now and I look like absolute fucking shit.

Rough skin texture, uneven tone, massive forehead wrinkles and fine lines.

Also a lot of studies I’ve researched on these things have measurements like a “global assessment score” which is some **** dermatologists opinion or a biopsy measurement that measures fibroblasts and other collagen signalling measures.

Also not a lot of studies where there isn’t a conflict if interest where the corporation isn’t funding the study.

Also most studies are for acne, scaring etc and not related to “aesthetics” or looking younger.

Think I may quit skincare and just become an alcoholic

I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

I knew this was gonna happen.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

I think so. At the end of the day you are just rubbing man made chemicals onto your skin. It may make you look 'shiny' or 'glossy' or whatever when you've added the products, but it's not turning the clock back, in any realistic sense.

That’s the thing. A lot of these prescribed medications like tretinoin increase skin cell turnover and collagen which in theory should have a positive impact on appearance but for me personally it hasn’t translated into any visual improvements.

In fact I’d say I look worse than 4 months ago.

OTC interventions have a temporary effect like making you look glossy or whatever but the RX stuff that is supposed to change your skin structurally doesn’t seem to work on a superficial level.

Just to add- I don’t think I look super young for my age but
I think my aura is that of a 10 year old so it’s probably confusing for some at first. They have to get a good look at my face an then they’re like ok yes she’s mature af

ur doing too much at once

1. u use an exfoliant to strip the outside
2. u use a cream that wasnt meant to be applied when ur skin is vulnerable
3. while ur skin is reacting to steps 1+2, u add in red light therapy further exacerbating the issue

With skincare, only experiment 1 method at a time and if u wanna mix em together go slow and stop immediately if they react to each other

I hadn't used lotions and moisturizers and whatnot for years, but i got a box of this stuff as a Christmas present last year, so figured why not try them. Couldn't see any difference after a couple of months, possibly looked even worse. Skin was dry after stopping using them. Almost as though I created a new problem. I think it's a shill / scam, but may be wrong.

I use Tretinoin .1% about 3-4x per week and scrub my face with a soft brush for every shower and use some Korean SPF facial moisturizer daily.

Last week I was at a restaurant with my extended family, and ordered a beer and the waitress asked for ID. I told her, "I'm 41 years old, and my ID is actually out in the car" and she literally didn't believe it. Eventually she told me she believed it, but she kept saying, "You don't look anywhere close to 41"

Mirin

I was in a similar situation but they asked if I wanted the seniors discount.

They didn’t believe me when I told them I’m 30 years away from that.

i dont bother with skincare products anymore .. i used baby butter in the past. left the skin very soft

now i use collagen sups, glycine and maybe some other things. ~15 different sups for health. oregano oil. hemp oil etc.

on occasion i'll run metformin for a few weeks to slow aging. nerds in silicone valley use it.

Google
Why Metformin is a Longevity CandidateScientists hypothesize that metformin acts as a geroprotector by targeting several fundamental mechanisms of aging:AMPK Activation: It activates the AMPK pathway, which regulates cellular energy and mimics the metabolic benefits of fasting.Autophagy: It stimulates autophagy—the body's process of clearing out damaged cells and proteins.Lowered Oxidative Stress: It helps protect cells from damage by reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the mitochondria.Disease Delay: Epidemiological data suggests it may lower the risk of age-related conditions like cardiovascular disease, cancer, and cognitive decline. The TAME TrialTo test these theories, researchers are organizing the TAME (Targeting Aging with Metformin) trial. Sponsored by the American Federation for Aging Research, this landmark clinical trial aims to establish whether aging itself can be treated as a medical condition by demonstrating that metformin delays the onset of multiple age-related diseases simultaneously.

i think good quality skin comes down to diet. since i cut out sugar/fat foods, skin is always clear. mostly high fat/medium protein a the moment. but if i go just carbs/low fat, it's okay too. when you eat junk, your skin needs to detox that sh*t and comes through as a symptom that your diet is bad

Sun protection to prevent photoaging and aftershave to prevent razor bumps. None of the rest of the stuff works for me although eating healthy and living a low-stress lifestyle definitely helps.
