It's crazy how many people were talking about runaway inflation over the past couple months, when in reality anybody with a rudimentary understanding of economics knew it was a temporary oil shock and would go back to normal quickly. And likely will change the spending habits of people further so baseline inflation will drop even closer to the 2% goal within a couple months.

It has everything to do with goverment deficits.

The U.S. government ran a budget deficit in May of $293 billion, well above estimates and up 32% from a year earlier. The government also paid a record $133 billion in interest, a 44% YoY jump. Annualized, that's $1.6 trillion in interest, 30% of tax receipts! Disaster awaits!
