Do you feel bad for boomers who can't retire? Is it satisfying?

Used to work at Walmart and overheard a lady sighing, saying she's gonna die there. So many people working in their 70s and 80s and can't retire. Also SSI is being eaten up like crazy.

I thought boomers were on the gravy train?

I hate boomers and I wish them all terrible horrible suffering but I hate exploitative greedy capitalism so much more.

Seeing an old person working to survive when that is absolutely not necessary is so fucking triggering to me.

Despite how some try to claim that had it so easy, not everyone did and things happen to people. Some just fear stopping working will lead to death. Some can't afford to live on social security alone.

Start when you are young. Start young and work hard. Live below your means. Stay out of debt. Don't waste money on hoes or vices. 401K/IRA Investmax. Find passive income. Steer your career in a way where you don't have a lot of stress either physical or mental so down the road if you do need to keep working you can.

It's not satisfying. It's unfortunate. Think of what we could achieve if we worked and helped each other.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Put them all on welfare.

Makes the welfare system explode as it is unsustainable.

Destroys nations.

Hence all the useless 3rd world scumbags looting our social security, our welfare, etc. Commies plan to destroy our white western countries.

Not at all

There are 30 year olds freaking out rn because they wasted their 20s and have nothing. They became adults and wasted the first decade. Many will wakeup and make something of themselves in a fraction of the economy boomers had.

Now think about what these loser boomers did. 20s wasted. Didn't wakeup in their 30s and wasted that decade. Still stubborn in their 40s, wasted that. 50s, well social security is close so lemme hold on a bit. 60s surely the government will take care of me?

Just die u useless boomer

I don’t think boomers want to retire bro.

My office is filled with “lifers” who have been with the company for 40+ years (srs). These aren’t people whose incomes preclude them from riding off into the sunset. They are managers, specialists, board members. Yet they refuse to retire.

Even my grandma is 76 and still works 30 hours a week. She doesn’t have to. Her home is paid off and while far from wealthy, she’s sitting on enough money to live out the rest of her days comfortably. When I ask her why she continues working, she says “what else would I do?”

That’s the boomer mentality. It’s almost akin to Stockholm Syndrome.

Depending on their situation, I can see why some older people still want to work part time (not 30 hours though, I'm talking like 2-3 days a week or so).

Let's say they're not CEO'in like all us miscers are, and just getting by OK with retirement funds/social security, I can get why a part time job would sound appealing to make a little extra money on your own terms and as an incentive to stay "active"

Many people need a purpose and reason for existing, and work can fill that purpose. Even 12 or so hours a week working gives people focus and a reason for getting up in the morning.

My parents are long retired and into their late 70s, but still get up quite early and have lots of things to do in terms of volunteering and club membership. Some people cannot just 'stop' or not have things to do.
