Anyone excited for Toy Story 5 (srs)
It's a family-friendly movie, but I love this franchise. I gave the full 10/10 score to both Toy Story 1 and Toy Store 2 (I wanna' watch Parts 3 & 4 over the long weekend). The movies are funny, with memorable characters and great pacing. The voice actors nail the roles. I'd go so far to say it's the best animated franchise of all-time, or at least close to it
Right now, Part 5 has a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes after 141 reviews, which is no surprise: all of the movies in this franchise have gotten high marks (https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/toy_story_5).

No because I'm not fucking 9.
Also five films is too many. Shit should be capped at 3. Srs.
And Tim Allen is a rat. And Hanks is probably a pedo.

Yeah, I’m a huge Toy Story fan. I just bought Toy Story 1 on 4K and was mind blown. I’m planning on collecting the rest of the films in 4k.

Didn't see any after 2. I heard 3 was still good and have an idea of the plot. Know nothing about 4 or 5.
Might take my kids to see this one because of the reviews. There's been crap all for movies for kids lately.

I saw Toy Story 5 at the theaters on 07/01/2026.
I love the first 3 movies in the franchise (I rated them a 10/10, 10/10, and a 9.0/10 respectively.) However, I remember that Part 4 was noticeably weaker. It's still good; I rated it a 7.5/10. But it showed signs of diminshing returns, particularly with the jokes and the retread of already-covered themes
I think Part 5 improves markedly over Part 4. The major feature, which I expect to be most controversial, is that Woody and Buzz are not truly the main characters in this one. The story centers on Jessie, who gets most of the screen-time and action ... And I actually like it. I think Jessie is a good character, and the focus on Jessie allowed the franchise to switch things up a bit instead of recycling the same Woody/Buzz schtick. I like that the movie backs away from
The story is compelling and applicable, focusing on the role of traditional toys in a world increasingly dominated by technology. It would be spoilers for me to describe the message. So all I'll say is that I think the movie gets it right in the end. I also found the scene where Bonnie looks at the chatroom to be so hard-hitting yet real.
A lot of the jokes hit the mark. There are a couple new additional characters, mostly comprised of AI/technology devices. Each are solid, with the potty-training device "Smarty Pants" probably offering the best moments.
I'd say the movie loses a few points for a couple reasons. Once again, they include a portion involving a lost toy, which forces the main gang to go out in the world for a rescue. It feels like all 5 of these movies have had something similar. Sprinkled throughout the story are the doings of a mass group of upgraded Buzz Lightyear toys. It felt tacked on and random. The franchise has been known for having a big finale, with a lot of excitement and fireworks. The finale in this one is more subdued compared to the others.
8.5/10.
