Ive been reading $100k is a major threshold when it comes to retirement.

When you hit $100k, money really starts compounding. Its said $200k starts half the time

This guy says even if you no longer invest, you'll almost have $1 million depending on when you started.

These conventions about investing are based on the last hundred years (and even beyond), where the domestic population increased rapidly each generation and even when that began to slow, new foreign consumer markets were opening up.

There is going to be a new and frankly unprecedented paradigm now that population growth is slowing across the world and every untapped market has now been tapped.

This is not your daddy's, granddaddy's, or great granddaddy's world you're preparing for. You cant rely on old conventions. Those who do will be holdin the bag fr fr.

I've been saying this for a while now. If you still think you can park your money in an index fund and collect 8% a year and compound it to infinity, you're a retard.

Right now, the objectives are
1. Protect against inflation.
2. Protect against outright theft.

Everything else is secondary. To clarify on outright theft, governments have historically straight up taken people's money, laws are ultimately meaningless. What's the actionable way to protect against something like that? Liquidity and a means to leave the USA.

Capitalism is a scam. It relies on continual growth that cannot happen.

I wouldnt say it's a scam, it has its place within the right conditions. The reason we've got all the medicines and transportation and food abundance etc etc we have today is because of capitalism. But to your point, when you start to grow beyond what an ecosystem can support, you do have to start looking at new solutions/adjustments.

The race to 100k in your accounts should be everyone's goal in their 20's if you want to make it.

100k 401k
100k IRA
100k brokerage/savings

Have that by 30 and you'll be a millionaire by 35-40.
