Froze my credit yesterday.

Super easy. Not looking at borrowing anything any time soon (potentially never again in my life). Can’t believe I’ve never done this before.

Has anyone here ever frozen their credit as a precautionary measure against fraud?

Yes, I have freezes on with all three bureaus for both me and my wife. It's easy to unfreeze when needed.

Apparently I did. Don't even remember doing it, but I had to unfreeze it for the mortgage we just applied to. Probably explains the lack of credit card spam in the mail.

never felt the need to do it. and i bet one day you'll forget you did it and it will fuck up something you're trying to do and it will be a gigantic PIA to unfreeze it quickly enough.

Are you not able to use credit cards when its frozen? Or would you only be prevented from opening any new accounts? I buy everything on credit card and pay it off every month, which is a lot easier than carrying cash. I use my phone for everything and don't even carry a wallet anymore.

It just prevents new accounts or credit checks. Your cards will work normally.

I use cash for everything, bank transfers for larger purchases

I don't buy things I can't afford. Zero credit, zero credit cards
