I don't know if you're the same guy but a while back I made a thread about my manager having unreal eye contact and someone said something about a well regulated CNS.

I'm not intimidated by the guy physically but there is definitely something to be said about people that are calm and controlled with strong eye contact. They are present.

I found out though, my manager is shifting his eyes ever so slightly so that he's not actually giving me a deathstare. So my opinion has changed. He shifts his gaze from my right eye to left to relieve the tension.

If his eye contact was truly unwavering that would be something else. That's Tyson level eye contact.

Sounds my take on a conversation I would have.


Count blink rates too. If someone can hold contact but their blink rate increases, they are still nervous.

Blinking should be minimal. On e every ten seconds would be the high side of average. Remember, in these moments time appears to slow down. Someone can be calm in their body but start blinking like three to four times every ten seconds or multiple times in a row non stopped. Ask them a question. I bet if they were to speak they would have a high pitched voice and would likely stutter as their CNS is elevated.


Remember, always be aware of your body language too. Count your own blink rates in perceived stressful situations. You gain control of it by understanding it. You gain understanding of it by observing it.

The courts see the same scumbags repeatedly, a normal law abiding citizen doesn't usually act out of character once and kill someone in a fit of violent rage, the type of idiot who thinks like you probably has been in the courtroom multiple times and the judge is happy to send him to prison for killing someone.
