Death is light as a feather, duty is heavy as a mountain. I honestly think it's harder to deal with loved ones going than to go myself. Been close a few times and your brain is forced into being at peace with it as it starts to shut down.

Evolutionary mistake? Doubt it, it's just a natural constraint that evolution can't overcome. Or at least it hasn't yet. Evolution is a terribly slow process, and who knows our system may have been designed so that death cannot be overcome.
