How do people cope with this shit? I asked my dad and he was just acting high and mighty, pretending that sort of question is beneath him.

Your body dies.

You exist. The nature of existence is that it is. There is no scenario in which something that exists, does not exist. You exist. You always have, you always will. For all of time and in all space, and in a time and space where time and space do not exist. You are.

Why is my dad such a bloody bastard? His dad was a great man. I remember my grandfather took me on an outing when he was 75. As he was filling up his V8 jaguar at the pump he said to me "it'd a shame life is great right now and in a few years I'll be gone" rip grandpa. You were telling me the truth not being high and mighty like my dad

I guess it should be worrying if immediate, but we can't live like that. Most ppl don't cope cause they don't even face the possibility. Who knows what we think on our deathbed at 90 tho. I hope I have the mindset and perspective to face it when it comes.

This is a pretty tough area for a human mind to explore. It is uncomfortable and people handle discomfort in weird ways. Your father has not resolved his own insecurities.

Me too. I think about it at least once a week. Sometimes I'll be having a great day and an intrusive thought that one day I will cease to exist overcomes me. I'm trying so hard to become religious, it's just difficult to accept it intellectually. This shit really bums me out man. Yesterday I was driving around listening to music and began to appreciate how much joy something as simple as random arrangements of sound can bring. Life is so fucking amazing and beautiful, I can't even begin to express it.

All I can suggest is that you take care of your body and mind. Go to the gym today. Cut out processed foods. Try to earn as much money as possible so you can be first in line for experimental life extension therapies which are coming in the next couple decades.

Humans may be able to live well into their 100s by the end of this century. What sucks is that most of us may have been born just too early to take advantage, but there's hope on the horizon.

I recommend going there. Practice dying. Don’t run from the feeling, go there.

I guess I just freaking hate it when people posture with high and mighty attitudes because I'm not buying it for a split second. Inside he is probably freaking out as he observes the last enemy approaching on the horizon.

That makes sense. The ability to acknowledge fear and discomfort to one’s self is a very difficult thing to do. Fear of death is a very natural sensation but people are not great with feeling or expressing feelings though. Unfortunately.

I think in case of my father it's more related to seeing an opportunity to dunk on people and feel superior. He's a textbook narcissist if you ask me.

Even though I strongly believe that we are far more than this physical body, I'd be lying if I say I sometimes don't get uneasy about the idea of dying. Especially as you get older and realize how brief our lives are, and how the time just keeps going faster the older you get.

I'm still feeling entitled to my part of the inheritance, so trying to bear this nonsense a little longer. My sisters took all the money from my mother's side and they'll be coming for my father's side when the time comes. Does it make me a vulture I guess it does. But my parents both had juicy inheritances so why should I get jack shit

During this carnation, our brains and our “programming” are trained to focus on short sighted survival issues. Getting food, getting shelter, reproducing, essentially building a perceived sense of security. The survival instincts driving this behavior are deeply engrained in us. Short term survival takes up almost all of our conscious thinking until we bring the subconscious to the conscious.

Outside of the mechanical functions of the brain and neurotic survival instincts, there is a language used in esoteric spiritual communities that discuss the great forgetting during each carnation. The illusion of separation we experience in this current frame of reference is part of learning module here on the school of Earth, one of the hardest schools we have developed for ourselves. The main obstacles we put in our way is the great forgetting.

I think you may be right OP that most people fear death a lot.

I'm the odd one out for thinking about it nonchalantly in the sense that we all die one day so why worry about it.

I said that Gordon, Rich String, and Godfrd are most likely to die first and that upset Godfrd.
Balding is death. If you have no hair, you have no life.

This is retarded. Hypothetically (assuming reincarnation is true) if it was supposed to be a "learning experience" then how are we "learning" by having a "great forgetting" every time we come back? That's some Stockholm syndrome new age phaggotry.

The “new age phaggotry” goes back thousands of years.

It seems your position is based on complete ignorance.

Does the billions, or more, years that exited before you were born freak you out equally as much?
