Mind = destroyed @ the skyrocketing popularity of Pokemon Go (srs)

- Brb Nintendo is worth over 7 billion dollars more today than it was 7 days ago
- Brb has more active users than Twitter and has more downloads than Tinder and it hasn't even been released in most of the world
- Brb Nintendo has hit a huge, life changing hit
- Brb plans to expand the game and made wrist bands and/or glasses/eye gear to make it even more real

This is life changing.

I have been wondering what kind of response their competitors will have. Will all these huge app companies try to release their own version of games where you have to go outside?

They are in the process of developing tournaments and Pokemon battles in the game. Kids could get together and battle lol. This is great, IMO.

Less socially awkward *******s in the future.

I play but it blows my mind that ***gots already have Pokemons holding the gyms at level 400 or whatever.

How tf is that possible? To capture Pokemon you need a car to get around (in my city for sure). To have a car you need to have money for gas and insurance. If you spend all day leveling up and catching Pokemon when do you work to pay for the car????

Not into it at all honestly.

To me it seems like one of those games like Fallout Shelter that are sort of fun but in the end you'll have just seen it as a waste of time.
Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

Said years back I was shocked they hadn't released something for smart phones. Everybody owns one and everybody downloads game to play to pass the time.

Thought it would have come a while back although as a watered down Red/Blue/Yellow. Not like this

I'd love to see how much money they'll have made off in App purchases in a week once its fully rolled out globally.

There are a lot of people who make a killing working online. Either have their own business, a website that pays all their bills, freelancers, maybe YouTube channel or pro gamers.

There are many other ways to make money than just working a regular job.

I doubt people playing actually share this mentality or gaf. They just wanna game.

Other than hoping people will be mindful walking and avoiding thieves,I think people who once played are stoked at the ability to translate this game somewhat into real life and you have the new players excited to try it out.

haha i went to the store earlier. and it was about the time school was ending for some kids, aged around 14. 3 on their bikes cycling by holding their phones, going to a spot to catch one. heard them talking about it. then they said they were off to find another.

this is happening in every city in the country no doubt. kids will be kids.

The whole app is based off gps location so I think you have to go to specific spots to find certain types of pokemon. Basically people find them and tell others about it and you end up with popular spots. Surely someone is going to figure out a way to spoof it tho and get all of them.
