Best allergy medicine? (20k)

Getting raped right now. Was taking the equate poverty allergy relief chit and it does not work. Weather keeps getting hot and cold which is fking me bad

So, I'm going to the store and need some recommendations from the misc brahs. What works for you guys?

Same brah. Always too zyrtec/allertec, but it is making me drowsy af and stopping me up big time.

I hear sudafed sulfate is good af. Might go try to get that. Behind the counter though, but you can get it anywhere.

If you need immediate relief, you need to go to the pharmacy counter and ask for pseudoephedrine. It's sold without prescription but you need to show ID to buy it. It's hands down the best immediate working allergy medicine. Pretty much all of the other ones you may be familiar with (claritin, alegra, zyrtec, flonase, etc) do not work immediately, but take a few days to build up in your system. If you want long term relief, just pick one of those and see if it works for you. I've been taking flonase for the past year and it works great for me.

At age 39, I've come to the conclusion that Benadryl is the most sure fire solution. Just beware of the sedative effectsor luxuriate in the sedative effects

This. Nasal spray steroids are considered the best initial treatment for allergic rhinitis. Other OTC steroids include Nasacort and Rhinocort. If they don't work well enough for you, then you can add nasal spray antihistamines by prescription. If you want to avoid the prescription route, then try second-generation antihistamines like Allegra, Claritin, and Zyrtec. First-generation antihistamines like Benadryl work as well as the second-generation ones, but they're more sedating so it's more dangerous to drive or operate machinery with them. Avoid using decongestant sprays for more than a couple of days because you'll get rebound congestion once you stop.

you should look into something that has Loratadine (such as Claritin) or Cetirizine (Zyrtec)

Costco has some awesome prices on both (kirkland brand)

Antihistamines are good preventative medicines but if you have an upper respiratory tract infection or allergy-induced asthma, you might need something stronger.

This is what I took:

Prednisone (a corticosteroid)
Montelukast (a leukotriene inhibitor)

I use Allertec or whatever it is called at costco. its generic zytrec thats like $13/bottle of 360

Nasal steroids won't do anything for eye allergies. Only sinuses.

The best you can do is cetirizine/allegra/loratadine + a steroid like nasonex/veramyst/omnaris. If that doesn't work you are screwed.

You gotta switch it up because your body gets used to the med. I alternate between zyrtec, CVS brand, flonase spray

I tried zyrtec, Goodsense but they didn't work on me.
Then my physician assist me to take Allerless. It works fine & now feeling much better.

It helps to first know what allergy is.

typically, a non-dangerous molecule (pollen, skin cells, something small and harmless) is presented as an antigen, and the body has a reaction to it. The reaction can be severe (life threatening maybe, peanut or shellfish) or mild (runny itchy nose).

The main thing here is to realize the simple fact that, if the molecule cannot get to you, then it cannot trigger the allergy to begin with.

therefore I suggest an air filter. For the home, get a HEPA filter and set your living space up so that there is nothing provoking. Clean it out REALLY WELL. Get every corner, wipe all the dust from the fan and ceiling, do it right. Then, take everything out of there that you don't need and keep it filtered and clean.

when you go out, you can wear a mask if the allergy is bad. I would take a mask over medication usually. It depends where you are going I guess.

Next most important aspect of allergy is to find out exactly what the allergy is from. Is it from skin? dog hair? mite feces? some kind of flower you brush against on the way to the car that puts stuff in the air? All kinds of sources. Discover the source and you will be 49% to recovery.

you have to see what medicine works for you. some people swear by zyrtec and claritin, but allegra-D works better for me than those. keep in mind that this stuff is just working on the symptoms and not the root of your allergies.

I get allergy shots and along with the allegra-D pill daily, I haven't experienced an issue in a few years and I have REALLY bad allergies.
