The solution to this problem is very logical and simple to explain. No good deed goes unpunished? Let's say you loan someone money on good word and that person doesn't repay right away or is unable or whatever the case may be, and so it drags on. Then let's say some negative event arises and causes the relationship with the person you loaned money and it was out of your control what a person's reaction to cause turmoil and thus affecting the near possibility of seeing your loaned money again. Best thing is to just forgive and forget and just let that bs go. All it does is cause unneeded stress and distractions. Discuss.

That's one phrase I never actually understood
I think personally that anyone who repeats it just doesn't know how to set boundaries about how they expect to be treated by others (or that they aren't in any position to be setting boundaries because they are not valuable)

It depends, but in most cases, we do good deeds but for the wrong reasons. Perhaos out of guilt, or an idea of righteousness while our inner being says no, I don't want to do this sacrifice for another. If it feels wrong, I don't do it.
But, if an action is springing from within us in alignment and we give of our self in the right way, we complete both ourselves and the other.
We should give wisely.
